1946 Ford Deluxe Lead Sled Street Rod History Ford Motor Company introduced its De Luxe Ford line in 1938 as an upscale alternative to bridge the gap between its base model and luxury Lincoln offerings. The "Deluxe" name was used intermittently before and after this to specify an upscale trim, but the De Luxe Ford line was differentiated as a separate "marque within a marque" with separate styling and pricing. The engine is a 1975 rebuilt 302 cubic inch V8 with an Edelbrock carb, chrome valve covers, and a blower style air cleaner and backed by a C 4 automatic transmission. It sits in a clean and well thought out engine compartment. Interior The plush white 1987 Buick bucket seat interior with separate armrests and a console and matching Buick rear seat is complimented by the Lilac painted dash with both factory and Sun accessory gauges, unique "Marilyn" shifter, clock, tilt wheel. Black carpet, stereo radio, and a Dakota digital keyless remote lock system for the doors, windows, and trunk. Exterior The Lilac paint scheme with flames really sets of all the custom body work on this 1946. Check out the cars body work including having a 4 ½" chopped top, 6" sectioned rear, shortened 2" body, trunk lid shortened 4 ½", 1941 Buick grill, 1953 Buick headlights with cat eyes, 1954 Buick portholes, handles shaved, suicide doors, 1951 Desoto bumperettes, and fender skirts. WOW. It rides on vintage looking wheels and hubcaps and wide white wall tires and also has a nice trunk with the battery in a box too.
