1974 Ford Crew Cab 4x4
1974 Ford F-250 Description
Hi, we are selling our 1974 Ford Flatbed Crew Cab. We bought this truck last year but don't use it much and don't have the funds to fix it up so it is for sale.
The previous owner put the motor, transmission, transfer case, front axle, rear axle and power steering box out of a 78/79 Ford truck. I was told the front axle is a Dana 44 High Pinion and it has disc brakes and that the rear axle is a ford 9" with drum brakes. The tranny is a C6 automatic and the transfer case is a NP205 from what I recall. It does have both power steering and power brakes which is nice.
The motor is a 460 and a few years ago (before we bought it) the previous owner had a new cam, new lifters, new intake, new carb and new electronic distributor installed. The motor runs really strong and has lots of power.
I did replace the steering box as it was bad and I did have to get one out of a 78/79 ford truck. I had to replace it with a used one as I could not afford to buy a new one at the time.
The flat bed is in decent shape but it is long. I believe this use to be a short bed truck as the flat bed is 8' long and it looks like it sticks past the frame a fair amount but in all honesty I don't know. I was going to cut it down a foot or so but never got around to it.
Overall the truck runs amazing but it just developed a shake/vibration about two weeks ago at speeds over 50/55. I had it looked at and they said the carrier bearing or a U-Joint is starting to go out and quoted me about $200-$300 to fix it. Before that the truck would run 70 + all day long and in fact I have a few videos of it running at 60/70+ so if you would like them just let me know and I will send them to you. Just to be clear, I did not fix it as I we don't drive it and don't have the extra cash so we can justify spending money on it.
The body does have some dents here as you can see in the pictures along with other items that need to be fixed. The back slider doesn't latch so it should be fixed/replaced. There are two spots of some previous repair on the truck that are showing some age. I included the pictures and both spots are on the passenger side. One between the doors and one in the very back by the cab corner. But I wasn't worried about all that stuff when I bought it as I planned to fix it up. The main thing to me was that it was complete and overall good mechanical shape. This way I didn't have to track down all the hard to find parts as these crew cabs are rare.
It also has some small pencil size rust bubbles starting to form on the drip rail. I included a few pictures. The drives side has more spots then the passenger side. They look easy to fix as they just look like bubbles starting to form. The previous owner said they started a few years back
Also, the insides of the doors are painted but the color doesn't match the exterior. The inside of the doors are a different shade of brown... once again, I wasn't worried but thought I would mention it.
It's a 1974 and overall I feel it is in decent condition for being 44 years old and if you fix the shake/vibration it would be a good driver once again.
Anyways, let me know if you have any questions, need any more pictures or videos of the truck. My name is Boe and my cell phone is (253) 278-5410. You can call or text, which ever is easiest for you.
This is sold as is where is, which means you have to pay for shipping. If you are local I encourage you to come look at it and take it for a spin. I also will not release the truck for shipping or send you the title until the funds have been received and clear the bank. There is a $500 deposit due within 48 hours via paypal and the remainder of the balance is to be paid in cash, cashiers check, money order, wire transfer or personal check but funds much clear the bank before shipping.
Thanks for looking and happy bidding!
