1975 Ford F-250 4x4 Custom High Boy
1975 Ford F-250 Custom Description
In the collector car market value is all about supply and demand. Rare vehicles were built in limited supply, while others were built in volume but were all used up. The latter holds true to 1973-1979 vintage F-series trucks, more so with the F-250/350 versions. Vintage 8-lug 4X4 trucks were called to action where conditions required 4WD for snow and ice or in overall harsher environments. These trucks mainly lived in areas stretching from the Oregon coast all the way to New England. Here we are over 4 decades later and most of those were used up and are long gone or riddled with rust from exposure to salted roads and years of heavy duty use, but NOT this girl! Having spent it's entire life in the dry State of Montana, as you can see by the pictures, it has been well cared for! She sports a 360 2bbl V8 engine coupled to a 4 speed manual transmission and divorced NP205 transfer case. The engine starts and runs like a watch. The clutch operates smoothly and transmission shifts as it should. Driving the truck for the first time, I was amazed at how solid and rattle free the cab/body and running gear was...followed by how impressed I was with how effortlessly the truck drives down the road. Take a look at the interior! All gauges work as they should. The radio still tunes and plays through the original speaker in the dash. Keep in mind, most of these dashes were butchered in the CB riddled '70's, or had big holes cut in them for aftermarket radios. Kudos to the owner for keeping this one genie! He did add a fire extinghuisher (passenger kick panel) and a hydraulic brake controller for towing the gooseneck. All the glass is in great shape. I do believe the truck was re-painted at some point. The paint is in great shape and still retains a shine. Take a look at the pictures, they speak for themselves. When was the last time you saw a bed side tool box as clean as this one? By the way, this 'ol High Boy gets as many thumbs up as does our '69 Super Bee when we're out cruising around! The next collector boom is going to be vintage 4x4 trucks according to Fortune magazine and Hagerty Insurance the largest collector car Insurance company in the nation who has a vested interest in collector car trends and have said the 1973-1979 Ford F-series trucks are on the way up the most valuable being the more limited production 4x4 models. If you watch the collector car auctions, you can clearly see the migration to 4X4 trucks. Vintage 4x4's in this shape are VERY hard to find!
