1923 Ford Model T stake side flat bed Description
This 1923 Ford Model T Truck is an award winning vehicle that is also a rolling advertisement if you put your business name on the side of it as I did. It draws large crowds anywhere you take it. The first summer after I completed it I won five awards in three consecutive shows where it was displayed. It has a vestibule cab and stake side flat bed patterned after the products of the H. H. Babcock Co. of Watertown, N.Y. It has an overhauled engine with aluminum pistons, wood bands in the transmission, rebuilt generator with a voltage regulator (more dependable than the old fashioned cut out) and starter and a Camco water pump. It has a manifold cab heater for cool mornings or evenings, hand operated windshield wiper, an old original winged radiator cap and moto meter. The cab and bed are made out of red and white oak with a spar polyurethane finish. The bed has stainless steel bed strips and bolts. The tailgate can be easily removed. It has turning signals, both a stop light in the signal box and a light bar on the top rear of the cab. The doors are easily removable, they simply lift off of the hinges, the door windows lower with the original style Ford leather straps. Both the top and bottom halves of the windshield open. It has a dash light mounted on the steering column, seat belts, a glove compartment, fire extinguisher and an operating car clock. The tires are oversized 3 1/2 x 30 Universals (actually 32 inches in Dia. giving more road speed). It has demountable rims on wood spoked wheels. The front end has a anti wobble attachment added to eliminate the occasional front wheel wobble. This truck cruises easily at 35 to 40 miles per hour.
