1963 Ford Fairlane 500 Hot Rod
1963 Ford Fairlane 500 Description
Selling my 1963 Ford Fairlane 500. This is a cool home-built hot rod. It originally came with a 260V8 that I removed and put in a 351 Windsor V8 and C4 Transmission about five years ago, but probably only have 2,000 miles on them. Like I said, this is a home -built hot rod. It is really cool, but NOT PERFECT.SELLING AS IS. NO REFUNDS or Guarantees! THIS IS A PERFECT HOBBY CAR! NOT SOMETHING I WOULD OWN AS A PRIMARY VEHICLE.
THIS IS FOR LOCAL PICK UP. OR YOU CAN ARRANGE A CAR TRANSPORT AND I WILL ASSIST IN BEING AVAILABLE FOR THE DRIVER.
I have listed the GOOD and BAD below:
THE GOOD
- Runs strong and shifts well. The engine was a remanufactured 1979 - 351 W long block bought from a NAPA auto-parts store. The heads are OEM.
- This car is plenty FAST
- Newly rebuilt Ford c4 transmission
- Edelbrock Performer Intake
- Edelbrock Performer 650 CFM Carb
- New Petronix Flamethrower coil, distributor and ignition
- Griffin Aluminum Radiator with 1 inch tubing
- Ford racing spark plug wires
- SSBC front disc brakes with 4 piston calipers, drilled/slotted rotors (NON POWER BRAKES)
- Rebuilt rear drum brakes with all new hardware
- New master cylinder and front brake lines with a dampener to adjust the front disc brakes
- New front suspension bushings, shocks, springs
- New upper and lower ball joints
- Newer BF Goodrich Sport Comp 2 tires
- Supreme Wheel 15 inch matte black and chrome wheels
- Custom Headers with fiberglass wrap
- Full custom dual exhaust (Sounds bad ass)
- I have all the original chrome
- There is some cool patina on the rear bumper that I have left in place on purpose. I even added a riveted bottle opener on the bumper
- I made a custom shifter box from a 762 Ammo Can and a B&M Shifter
- Red Top Optima Battery Mounted in the trunk
- Dash mounted RPM gauge
- Temp, oil pressure, volt gauge mounted under dash
- All lights work (the reverse lights are wired to a toggle switch on the shifter box as the column shifter is still in place and wired)
- New heater core. Heater blower fan and assembly was taken apart, cleaned and painted. Works great.
- Clean California Title and was CHP inspected 3 years ago.
- New aviation seatbelts
- Mexican blanket interior (seats wrapped and headliner)
THE BAD
- I did a custom garage paint job about 7 seven years ago (Hot Rod Flat Black and Sour Apple Green Metallic). It looks really cool from about 5 feet away. THIS IS NOT A PROFESSIONAL PAINT JOB! There are nicks, minor cracks, and imperfections. Also, I only took the primer down to about 300 grit before painting it to give it a little texture. I think it looks cools and super flat. The green is gloss and clear coated and looks nice against the black.
- The windshield is LEXAN. It is clean for now, but has some scratches. I put it in about 3 years ago. It will probably need to be replaced with 1/8th inch Lexan in a couple years. You can't use the wipers in the rain with a Lexan windshield. If you want the car to be ALL-WEATHER, you will want to put in a glass windshield for approx $300
- The car drives great and is FAST. BUT, IT PULLS to the right some. I think it is because the fitment of the right spindle makes the performance disc brakes a little tight on the disc. This could be fixed with a little filing on the spindle mount or shaving the paint on the non-contact side of the brake pad. This is something I just never got around to tweaking with it.
- The fuel gauge does not work.
- This car runs cools until its about 90 degrees outside. I planned to replace the belt-driven fan with an electric fan, but haven't gotten around to it.
- The original radio worked when I bought it, but the speaker was blown. I unhooked it from the power and removed the speaker
- The door locks need some work and the Driver Side Door latch needs to be replaced and/or realigned. It does close and stays closed, but it doesn't 'click' shut like the other doors.
- Rear seat belts are an aftermarket install using washers and bolts. I WOULD WELD A PLATE IN TO REINFORCE THEM IF YOU PLAN TO HAVE BACK SEAT RIDERS
