1988 Ford Thunderbird Sport Description

1988 Ford T-Bird bracket 302 engine race car.

This car can still be safely street driven. It'sUGLY but fun. It ran consistent 10.80's @62 MPHin stock form (1/8th mile) with street tires and 2.73 gears,AND we drove it to the track (45 miles). We removed a bunch of weight and then it ran consistent 10.40's @ 65 MPH still with 2.73 gears and a closed exhaust,AGAIN driven to the track.Ithen installed a new set of 4.57 Motive Gears and a posi-traction unit. We went back to the track still with the street tires and full exhaust,AGAINdriving it there. It spun the tires better than half way down the track, ran 10.42 at just under 70 mph, on and off the pedal! There was no use to try and makeanother run. With the parts I'm providingin thepurchase (check below) the 'Bird should easily be in the mid 9's andconsistent.Just tires and getting some traction should accomplish that. It was never manually shifted. It shifted at 4600, so it might have even run a little quicker.

The car comes with a set of Center Line 15x3.5 front wheels (4 lug and not on car)which need tires. A set of 15X8 Center Line rear rims with used M/T Street radial drag tires, also not on car. The M/T tires would be fine for a short period of time at the track but not on the street. Also I have the proper lug nuts with the wheels.Plus aset of 9" Hoosier slicks also, not mounted. AnAuto Gage tach, mounted on driver's pillar. A set of shorty headers, not installed. A NEW manual steering rack with the proper rag joint. An extra intake manifold and another set of factory injectors. The alternator has been rebuilt witha different winding for RPM (although it shifts automatically at 4600). We never shifted it manually. There are also some other pieces including another computer and factory distributor.

The entire interior is complete and nice with an electric, lumbar support, driver seat, electric windows and radio, all work. TheA/C and Power steering aredisabled, butthe NEW manual steering rack is included.

This is an extremely CHEAP entry car which should be consistent and COMPETITIVE in Street Eliminator (no box) racing. The trans is an AOD which snaps your neck on shifts. We made all runs in the drive position (it shifted by itself) which was part of the consistency.

These photos were taken about two years ago. Some rust has shown since then. The section between the rear window and the trunk lid is rotted. There are no dents on the vehicle. For more current photos visit my Facebook page. (Louis Hroncich) I have an American flag showing on my name when you research it. Those photos are current. For some reason I can't seem to load them on my computer. The rotted section is clear on the FB pictures. Also shown on hereare photos of theengine compartment, with the emission pump, power steering pumpand A/C eliminated. The front sway bar has also been removed.

LOOKS DON'T WIN RACES! Driver and consistency DO.

There are a lot of SALEABLE parts included in this package.

It was originally gotten to be a project with my grandson and me. We were going to run IHRA H/Pure Stock, 1/8th mile. It would have been a competitive combination. Running 9.80s would have been right there. ThenIHRA eliminated all class racing and turned into a bracket association.NHRA doesn't run a Pure Stock eliminator, and the cost of running NHRA Stock is crazy.Bracket racing it makes it competitive.

My grandsonliked driving but lacked the ambition to work on it. I am, these days, unable to do much physically, so installation of parts or disassembling this car and piecing it out is beyond me. Buy this at a fair, cheap, price and have some fun. If you're looking to have fun and not overly interested in looks this may be for you. Maybe you have a teen age child or grandchild interested in trying the Drag Race sport, this could be a cheap optionfor you. It could be cleaned up.

The car could easily be pieced out (seats, interior, radio window motors etc) but I am unable to do such work. Any question? Just ask or text me @ 239-994-9212 and I will return a call.

This is an"AS IS" sale. This sale if final. No returns. If this doesn't sell I may use it myself again. I'll just need someone to help me. I STILL CAN DRIVE!

A low investment, so feel free to contact me with a reasonable offer OR purchase it to disassemble and sell off the parts.

Thanks for looking! Text for further info @ 239-994-9212
