1978 Ford Fairmont Description

For sale is my 1978 Futura. This car is a complete custom build done by me over the last 5 years. Although it is a Ford it is badged as a Cyclone (Mercury). There is no car in the US like this one. Everything is new, rebuilt, or custom built. Rust free Arizona body as a starting place, the project has undergone so many changes that most who look at it do not know what the car even is. The engine is newly rebuilt, and has a total of 7 hours run time on it. It is built from a US 250 I-6 as a base, modified to allow for a 351 Cleveland style Australian crossflow head. Throttle bodies adapted from a 2003 BMW M3 now serve as the induction system. The engine is controlled by a megasquirt MSII EFI ECU, and is distributorless, injected, turbocharged, and roller cammed. At 7 psi, engine is estimated to make 350 hp.
The transmission is a 4R70w 4 speed auto with electronic converter lock up, rebuilt w/ alto red clutches, kevlar bands, and Vasco input shafts to stand up to the abuse. It has been converted to shift manually. Uses a 2500 stall 10" LU converter.
4 wheel disc brakes from a 95 Cobra Mustang, 17 x 8/17 x 10.5 wheels have 315 Sumitomo HTZ tires on back, 245 tires up front.
8.8 rear w/ Moser axles and 3.73 gears features new t loc differential, all new bearings, and a reinforced rear cover.
Interior is complete custom and was formed using 1.250" chromoly tubing, 18 ga. plate, and is all covered in leather.
These are just the basics,...there are far too many other mods to list here.
I'm selling the car because I don't drive it.
Despite that, be advised:
I do not need to sell it. But I WILL sell it. I do not want to trade it, but will consider certain European cars. The price is firm, but will not miss the sale if we are close.
