1961 Ford Galaxie Sunliner Convertible, older restoration, turn key, drive home!
1961 Ford Galaxie Sunliner Description
Well, I have accumulated way too many toys, time to liquidate. I purchased this car from the original owners son, he inherited the car in 2001. It was pristine at that time. However he decided to park it in his driveway under cover until I thankfully saved her. When I first purchased the car i immediately put it on my lift, dropped the gas tank and cleaned it, drained engine oil and replaced, drained cooling system and replaced. I installed a new reproduction carb on it and turned the key, she started up on the second attempt. The initial run was good, great oil pressure, no smoke etc.. but did not seem to be running to its fullest. I pulled the valve covers and discovered three bent pushrods. I replaced all sixteen and have put over a thousand miles on the car since. I also went through the entire braking system, cleaned, adjusted, and replaced anything necessary. It starts right up, runs perfect, she is a nice quiet cruiser. I also replaced the convertible top pump with a new reproduction. I would not hesitate driving this car anywhere, mechanically she is 100%. due to her unfortunate storage it does need a repaint. I contemplated having it painted before I list it, but I put myself in the new owners shoes and would rather see the nice clean American steel versus primer or a maaco paint job. She deserves much more than that in my opinion anyway!
