1947 Ford Other BUS Description

1947 FORD SHORT BUS RV CONVERSION

Really cool ford bus that pretty straight, with no rust. These old short buses are really cool and make great rods, glampers, rat bus etc.. They also look great chopped and/or lowered. This bus had a quality RV conversion done years ago. to restore since it's already been converted. These buses make cool tow rigs, food truck, ice cream truck, coffee shop, vending truck, mobile tattoo parlor or? A vintage tiny house rv. I've seen people use them for vending at car shows or to haul show bikes or race bikes. Clear title. Thanks and happy bidding. Feel free to ask questions and let me know if you want to do something on it.

MECHANICAL

This bus has a ford FE big block V8. This is not the original engine, but is a better engine for this application. The transmission is a manual and is probably the original. I have not tried to start the bus. It does roll and steer fine. transmission holds it in gear. Tires are 19.5 radials in good shape. Wheels are non-split newer type. Brakes don't work. I'm guessing they need bled. I have not tried any of the electrical. The engine turns over by hand. It hasn't ran in years. This came from an estate sale and I was told it was parked because the owner was ill. I think it will run with some elbow grease.

BODY

The body on the bus is in nice shape. No rust-through. The bus came from dry eastern washington high desert area. It has a couple soft dents that should pop out easily. For the most part, the bus is very straight. The paint is not nice. The one picture, with the people in it, is a few years old. It would clean up and look ok for camping and stuff but has scratches, fading etc. If you don't have auto painting equipment, you can paint these old buses with a roller or brush pretty easy and have them come out looking pretty good. It is much cheaper too. I personally like that look because my grandfather painted his rigs with a brush and special paint that was supposed to "smooth out" on cars. That paint has an old-timer look that I like. It would be cool professionally painted though. The doors both open/shut but the front door needs a little work to open/shut better. A rod that is part of the door mechanism, is bent. It needs a couple pieces of flat glass repaired. This is cheap and easy. I have not tried the electrical system or propane appliances but I will be doing that tomorrow. The body overall, is really nice for a project and will need very little work to paint.

INTERIOR

The interior was restored some years back. It needs some refreshing but won't need any major work besides carpet, which really isn't major. I don't know what electrical or gas appliances work but I'll be checking that out. In my experience, all the stuff most likely works. The camper conversion is not really old, and these rv's don't usually get used hard but I'll check out what I can. The cabinets need to be refinished and better latches installed. This has a plumbed portapotty, 110 and 12v lights, 110 outlets and inverter. Furnace, stove, oven, hot water heater. Outdoor shower. The interior does not smell and no leaks in the roof.

OVERALL

My plan was to either use the bus for camping/recreating, or for an AIRBNB rental. I sold this bus once, then ended up trading back for it. If it doesn't sell, I'm fine keeping it. It's cool, and rare to find in this condition. Thanks for looking. Happy bidding.

THIS VEHICLE IS SOLD AS-IS. IT IS USED AND NEEDS WORK AND/OR RESTORATION.
