1964 408 Stroker Manual
1964 Ford Falcon 408 Stroker Description
There is something fantastic when someone puts serious 408ci V8 power into the lightweight body of a 1964 Ford Falcon Futura. But more than just brutally powerful, when you check out the everything from the shine of the bumpers, to the presentation of the engine bay, you begin to realize the details were a priority, too. The right paint can set the tone for the ideal first impression, and this one gets it right. It's the Bright Blue Atlantic Metallic from PPG, and since there's only about 4,000 miles on this whole build, it has the depth to radiate nicely in the sunshine. So this Falcon can draw in attention even when it's parked. And these second-gen Falcons really got the look right. They retained the afterburner-style taillights, and up front, there's a bit more overhang for a more aggressive appearance. And with the full-length Futura trim looking like an arrow pointing this car forward, these were quite sporty compacts. Add to that upgrades like the 408 fender callouts, dual exhaust tips, and iconic Magnum 500 wheels (with Falcon center caps) and this is a well-finished total package. Inside there have been nice concessions for comfort like fresh carpeting, custom door panels, and newer seat covers with comfy cloth. There's even provisions for an upgraded AM/FM stereo. But from the moment you sit down, you know this was really built for performance. The classic-style wood and chrome steering wheel offers a nice grip; the auxiliary readout give you a clear picture of what's going on under the hood; and your right hand may never want to leave the Hurst shifter. You're going to want to pop the hood every time you park this Falcon, because there was a terrific investment in the engine bay. Not only did they paint the fender walls to match the exterior, but also the valve covers, power steering pump, pulleys, and so much more. And the components that are not blue are either a gloss black of a bright polish. So you might just win awards for the presentation alone. But more than just look outstanding, this V8 is also a true powerhouse. It's a 351 cubic-inch Windsor motor stroked to 408ci total. According to the consignor, it has been blue printed and balanced. It also has go-fast goodies like a large Holley 850 CFM double-pumper four-barrel carburetor, hi-rise intake, and custom ceramic-coated long tube headers. You have complete control over this monster motor and its thunderous soundtrack thanks to a close-ratio Ford toploader four-speed manual transmission. Making sure this power gets to the ground are all the right strong upgrades. This includes a hydraulic clutch, a Ford 9-inch Detroit Locker rear end, and stout five-lug axles. The suspension has been given the right investments, too. Up front you have fresher bushings and a thick sway bar, and the rear is reinforced with traction bars. Add in power steering, front disc brakes, and wide BF Goodrich T/As, you this is one wild Falcon that's easy to tame. This is a solid and powerful custom that packs a serious punch in a lightweight classic package. So you know something this desirable won't stay in our showroom long. Call today!!!
