1949 Ford Other Pickups Description
We built our house signature Rat Rod in 2007, and it has been an absolute blast ever since. The 49 For F3 cab, front axle and steering box were used from the original truck. Custom 2x3 chassis built to get the cab low low, and fit the SBC 350 engine and 2004R overdrive trans. The rear is a 10 bolt open rear from a 1975 Cutlass which from the factory has c clip eliminators. We drove it to Pocono Speedway and put it in the 2008 Goodguys Show there, also had it up and down the Jersey shore for shows and cruises. Won Best Rat Rod at the Hotrod Hoedown, the Magnetos rat show in Allentown Pa, The Road Angels Tile Factory show in Doylestown PA 2010, AND MANY OTHERS. Mounted on a tilt steering column is a custom one of a kind CRAGAR SS steering wheel, the most photographed steering wheel in hot rodding. The tilt bed is manual and allows access to the gas tank and battery. The rear suspension is torsion, the design borrowed from sprint cars and dirt modifieds. The rear tires are also dirt car tires 13 inch wide on custom wheels made with chrome 15 inch asphalt modified shells with chevy pattern centers. 15 X 4 Cragar ss on the front with farm tractor 3 rib tires.
