1928 Ford Model A Description

From its professional appraisal (Dennis Mitosinka Classic Car & Appraisal Service, dated Aug. 13, 2013):

This is a very nice older restoration and was featured in the book Henry's Lady (Copyright 1972, starting on page 141). This car was only produced in this configuration for approximately one month. The VIN No. is A85788. It has 3,734 miles indicated.

The body, fenders, hood, doors, trunk lid, and other panels, as well as the running boards appear in very good overall condition,. The running board rubber matting shows some age.

The older repaint appears overall good, with some thin spots, chips, scratches around the vehicle. It has black fenders and splash aprons. The main body color is beige with light brown accent panels and cream-colored pin striping.

The long grain vinyl top and sun visor is in overall good condition, except for shrinkage and a small repair above the rear window. The windshield and other glass appears in good condition. The vehicle has window wings and dual exterior mirrors with chromed bodies.

The radiator shell, headlights, tail light, bumpers, etc. are nickel-plated. The car has the early 1928 type tail light, headlight lens, etc. The Huga horn appears correct and is operative.

The Lester 4.40-4.50 50-21 black wall tires have approximately 8/32 inch tread. The 21-inch wire wheels are black in color. The nickel plated hubcaps are the early 1938 type. The rear mounted spare has a black vinyl cover.

The interior is brown. The period vinyl seat and door panels are in very good condition. The car has a left hand parking brake and a red rubber steering wheel. Some interior handles are now chromed. The gear-shift knob is the "mushroom" type. The amp gauge appears to be a replacement and is cracked. The windshield wiper unit is removed.

The 4-cylinder engine, per its number appears to be original. The engine has the early (6 Volt) Powerhouse generator, sheet metal shroud, and two-bladed fan. The engine and compartment is fairly clean. The engine has splash panels. The chassis, axles, etc., are black. The chassis and underside of the vehicle appears to be in very good overall condition.

The trunk area is solid and all panels appear to be in very good overall condition.

The engine runs well and all lights and horn are operational. All electrical and mechanical components appear to be in good operational condition. The rear differential has a minor oil seep.

Additional owner comments: Since it was appraised, the car has been driven less than about 150 miles. Last year the radiator was removed and overhauled and a new radiator hose was installed. A new custom made carpet was also installed. To my knowledge, this car has always been garaged and still is.
