Special Features

This 29 year-old Fox Body Mustang Convertible that will be described in this bio is a full

custom Show car that started life as a 25th Anniversary convertible from Ford. The condition

grade of this car is A1 ( as determined by a master appraiser). The exterior of this vehicl, including the

enginecompartmen, is fully detailed using mind blowing attention to detail. The interior is upholstered

in pure white leather with gray stitching. The sewn seams are very straight using the “French”

style of stitching. The thread used on the white leather is gray to harmonize with the gray suede.

All interior components on the inside of this show car are upholstered. If it is part of the interior

of this vehicle, it is either wrapped in white leather or is accented in light gray perforated suede

material.

Under the hood is a totally detailed fuel injected Ford V8 that still has the break-in oil due to the

very low mileage since it was built and installed. The engine is dressed in polished billet and

multitudes of bright work and detail. The total miles on this engine is estimated to be 1,000 or less.

This “Custom” Mustang has brought home top awards when entered in local and national car

shows and other car events.

Engine/Engine Compartment: The engine is a fresh 347 cubic inch “Stroker” and uses the

stock 302 block. The rotating assembly has all new forged “Eagle” crankshaft, connecting rods

and pistons. The rods are “H” beam and are built for strength. The machine shop that builds

these engines will always balance these components so they will handle the horsepower and

higher ranges or RPM’s. A “Comp” hydraulic camshaft was installed with just enough duration

& lift to give this engine adequate torque at any RPM range. The cylinder heads are RPM

aluminum assemblies from Edelbrock. The aluminum intake and fuel injection plenum are

polished units also from Edelbrock. The fuel injectors are also from BBK and are 24 pounds

injectors to handle the excessive fuel pressure. The cold air intake is from BBK and is highly

polished like the other components on this engine. The exhaust is routed through BBK long tube

headers that are either stainless steel or chrome. These headers have a 3” collector. Stainless steel

braided lines are used throughout the engine compartment for safe fuel delivery. A three-core

aluminum radiator from Moroso was installed with a aluminum flex fan to keep this engine cool.

The valve covers are polished aluminum with finned tops that have Ford Mustang lettering

embossed into the tops of the valve covers. Creature comforts found in this engine compartment

include power brakes which has a chrome booster and polished aluminum brake fluid reservoir.

The air conditioning compressor and all the aluminum A/C lines with aluminum fittings and

aluminum dryer has also been polished to a mirror-like finish. The alternator is chrome plated. A

chrome power steering pump fits the decor of this engine compartment. LED lighting is mounted

to the inside of the radiator support for reflective effects with the bright work mentioned above.

A side from the components that are mentioned that came polished, the owner paid an additional

$1,200.00 to have the extra things polished.

Chassis: The chassis is clean but not fully detailed yet. Future plans include a tubular front sub—

frame with four wheel Wilwood brakes and large diameter rotors and much larger billet

aluminum wheels. Currently, the car has a stock independent front suspension with an oversized

front sway bar. The springs were changed to the lowering type for that correct rake from front to

rear. The BBK headers connect to exhaust pipes that have electric cut-outs that “OPEN” on

demand and dump open exhaust before the mufflers. The exhaust is fabricated from 3”

aluminum coated pipe with Magna Flow type mufflers or equivalent and 4” polished stainless

steel exhaust tips. This is a true dual exhaust system that sounds like a race car when the engine

is running. Large diameter square tube frame connectors are installed to strengthen the unitized

chassis. The transmission is a Tremec five speed with a short throw shifter. The transmission

functions in harmony with a Cobra Racing clutch, pressure plate and throw-out bearing and is

hydraulically operated. The brakes are disc on the front with drilled and slotted rotors and drum

brakes on the rear. The differential is stock but will be modified as time and money become

available. The wheels are 17x8” and 17x10” Cobra “R” cast aluminum that are powder coated

light gray. The tires are all Nitto Drag Radials with large raised white lettering. The front tires

are staggered with 245/45ZRxl7 on the front and 275/40ZRx17 on the rear.

Interior: The interior inside this Mustang 25th Anniversary convertible is not original at all.

front bucket seats are new Recaro’s. The entire inside of this vehicle is upholstered in white

leather with gray thread used on all the sewn seams including the French seams. The dash panel,

console, door panels, quarter trim, rear seat and console have been wrapped with white leather

and have been trimmed using gray perforated suede material. Even the roll bar and steering

wheel has been wrapped in white leather and hand sewn to complete the process. This interior

creates a huge WOW factor when spectators and judges review this vehicle at shows. The

gauges have a white face background which harmonizes perfectly with the white leather. The

rear seat has been reworked to mimic the same design of the Recaro bucket seats. Included with

the upholstery that was just mentioned, the owner has installed polished billet aluminum

appointments throughout this interior. Listed are those billet appointments: sill plates, lock

knobs, power window switches, power door lock switches, heater & A/C control knobs and park

brake handle. The convertible top is part of the interior and has been replaced with a special

order color of gray German Hartz cloth that matches the exterior stripes and the contrasting color

of the perforated gray suede used inside this Mustang. In addition, the folding top has a custom

headliner that was fabricated from gray perforated suede and hides the folding top irons, much

like the “high end” luxury cars that are produced today. The rear window is tempered glass.

Creature comforts include a power convertible top, power windows, power door locks, tilt wheel,

air conditioning and a J VC touch screen stereo with AM/FM/CD/MP3 functionality. The short

throw shifter for the 5 speed transmission protrudes from the console and has a white “Hurst”

shift knob. The A/C outlets have been painted light gray to match the perforated gray suede

material used inside this vehicle.

Exterior: The exterior of this special Mustang convertible show car has been completely

disassembled and meticulously painted in three-stage white pearl. The detail extends into the

motor compartment as it was painted when the engine was removed. Gray non-metallic stripes

were applied before the clear coat was sprayed. The results are show quality. The final coats of

clear urethane were color sanded to remove and orange peel that was created by the spray

equipment. The entire car was then polished to a very high gloss. The embossed Mustang name

on the ground effects and rear fascia received laser cut stainless letters that were polished like

chrome and installed in the embossed areas of these components. The taillights are a one-year

only louvered assembly that was offered on the 1987 Mustang GT convertibles only. The owner

painted the louvered portion of the taillights lenses which created a recessed effect that is fitting

for a show car of this quality and attention to detail. The headlight assemblies and fog lamps

have been charged to the “HID” halogen type. The hood has been changed to a Cervini fiberglass

custom hood with a cowl style center section. The Cervini replacement hoods are finished on

both sides for added detail when the hood is open. The exterior belt moldings are now painted

light gray and harmonize with the custom stripes. An aftermarket spoiler was installed on the

deck lid after the factory luggage rack was removed.
