1942 Ford Other Deluxe Description

Ebay is loading some of my pictures upside down...and when I try with the picture upside down, eBay still loads it upside down. Sorry...if I can figure a way to fix this, I'll get them turned around
I bought this Ford several years ago with the intention of restoring it from the ground up. I chose this one because it had a very solid body and frame, with little serious rust damage. It was stripped down almost to the last bolt (the differential is the only part that hasn't been rebuilt--there is no place on this car where dirt and rust have survived). It had a 1939 engine in it; I replaced that with the correct 1942 block, which is now bored 30 over. The engine has new pistons and rings, valves, bearings, oil pump; rebuilt carburetor, distributor, starter, generator; all new wiring, battery (Optima dry cell), regulator. The suspension is rebuilt, as are the brakes (new master and wheel cylinders, new shoes, new springs, freshly turned drums. The transmission has been professionally rebuilt, as has the steering box and the clutch/brake pedal assembly. The clutch is new. The tires are new. You can see from the pictures that the body has been removed from the frame. I tried my hand at sheet metal work, found that I was terrible at it, and took the car to a body shop where they fixed its little wrinkles and holes, and painted it 1942 Ford Fathom blue. It has currently collected a series of little scrapes and chips (thanks to me...), but I have the paint to repair those when reconstruction is complete. All the instruments are NOS; the Deluxe didn't come with a clock (or a radio), but I like how the clock looks (and you could get it as an option), so I added one--it works. The heater is rebuilt and correct for the year. There is no radio, but if you want to rebuild and install one, I have an original. The dash and the window trimming are all wood grained. The flat glass is all new and has the correct Ford bugs. The rear window (the only curved piece) is original--and not yet in the car because the headliner has to be installed first. Speaking of the interior, the springs are all cleaned and ready to be reupholstered, and the front seat frame is cleaned, repaired, and painted. I have the correct Cartouche (from Mac's) interior kit for it, which, of course, is included. I also have a nice set of original interior lights. The car also has a new exhaust system (which I am currently in the process of installing) and a new gas tank. The bumpers are re-chromed; they are of mediocre quality. They came from Bumper Boyz in California, and are not what I had hoped they would be--I was going to replace them sometime in the future with bumpers from a better supplier, but they are OK for now. The bumper guards did not come from Bumper Boyz, and they are pretty nice.. (By the way, the 1942 Deluxe used 1941 Super Deluxe bumpers, not the same as 1942 Super Deluxe bumpers.)
Well, let's see--the doors have reproduction locks in them, but they are of lousy quality, so I had the originals rebuilt and re-keyed. I have, I believe, the rubber seals for the doors, but they are not yet installed. The radiator has been re-cored and, of course, the hoses are new. I think I have almost all the the wiring for the car, but there may be some small sections missing. The horn button is stuck, and I don't have the sun visors for the car. The engine has been assembled, but it has not been started, so it may take some work to get it running--I haven't figured out the wiring, so I haven't been able to turn it over (my plan was to take it to a local mechanic who actually knows what he's doing and get him to make it work...) The doors fit perfectly, but the hood and trunk lid have not been adjusted yet, so they currently don't sit straight.
Working on this car has been a lot of fun (and I've met a lot of really nice people while scrounging for parts), but in the last year increasing age, combined with the specter of immanent retirement, have slowed me down--I have two automotive projects, and one has to go. I've heard it said that the average restoration takes three owners to complete; I bought this Ford from a man who discovered that it was a bigger project than he wanted to handle, so its next owner should be the third--the one who actually gets it done. The 1942 is, I think, the prettiest of this era (1942-1948) of Fords, the last model that Henry actually had a hand in designing, and the car that carried the US through World War II.
I'd like a $500 deposit within two days after the end of the auction, and payment by cashier's check or good old cash when the car is picked up.
