Wow-This truckis a true "survivor time capsule" by all standards!-I purchased this truck from the original owner's family, and am amazed at the condition.Really unbelievable, especially since you never find theseas clean as thisin the northern states. Here are the details:
The original owner bought it new in 1967 at Luther Ford in Blairsville,PA.The neice I bought it from said the familynever could understand why he bought it,as he was a "Chevy Man",and wasn't to keen on Fords.Maybe that's one of the reasons for the low original miles. He passed away around 1990,and that's the last year the truck was inspected & run on the road.It was then passed on to his sister, who never did anything with it,and when she passed,it was willed to her daughter(original owner's niece),who I purchased it from this summer.I had it flat bedded to my house where I began the process of getting her out of her almost 30 year slumber.
The motor(240ci inline 6)was not locked up,as the original owner was a mechanic by trade, and did all the necessary things to put it into storage. The main issue was bad fuel,as I was able to get her running with a remote gas tank.I had the carb rebuilt, instaled a new fuel pump & fuel filter, and had the gas tank cleaned & relined by Bill at Elizabeth Radiator.I also drained the radiator & block, and refilled with new anti-freeze,as well as replacing the thermostat.Motor oil was drained & replaced as was the oil filter.Brand new battery installed. The truck fires right up hot or cold, and idles & runs smoothly.Really amazing. The transmission is a manual "3 on the tree",and shifts smoothly with no issues, and the clutch works fine.Really a fun truck to drive. All lights, gauges are fully functional. There are a pair of factory fog lamps installed on the front grill, but they were never connected, and currently are not operational. The original am radio sounds awefull. For some reason, the horn stopped working this weekend, but I'm sure I can get it fixed before the vehicle is picked up.The brake system was flushed, and the brakes work great, and the parking brake is fully functional.
The interior is all original, and really shows no signs of wear.Seats have no tears or rips, and the padded dash has no cracks or splits.Headliner is tight, and the dome light works.
The original "Harbor Blue" paint was oxidized a little bit when I got the truck, but I had it buffed out by a local bodyman known for bringing back to life original finishes.I'll be honest,Im really surprised how good it looks, and how well the shine came back. There are some nicks here & there, and a little surface rust on the upper/lower bed seams & the trailing bottom edge of the driver's side front fender(see pics),but overall stunning condition for a truck that's 50 years old.The original owner had the entire undercarriage and all body panels coated with a oil/tar mixture which has protected it from rust.Old school, but very effective. The hardwood bed planks are in decent shape, with some splits on 2 or 3 of the planks.I had the brackets for the original western style mirrors powder coated white,as the original finish was weathered.
The dealership installed a tonneau cover when new,but the family was not able to locate it or the bows that run across the bed. Also, the original tires/wheels were replaced by a set of spoked steel wheels in the late 1970s,and unfortunatelythe family was not able to locate the original set. These are available online, and would really set the truck off.
Overall,a really unvelievable low mileage example of an iconic Ford truck from the 1960s.Offered at a very fair "Buy It Now" price or shoot me a serious offer. You can't buy a late model "work truck" for what I'm asking, and this truck will only increase in value over time. You can contact me at 412-558-9154 with any other questions.
