1955 Ford Thunderbird Description

Early Thunderbirds like this 1955 example remain some of the most collectable '50s cars and it's easy to understand why. With strong V8, great color combo, both tops, and plenty of luxury inside, this one offers a terrific balance of sporty and luxury in an iconic vintage package. It's hard to find something more desirable than a first-year T-Bird. The way the panels fit together means you can clearly see the timeless elegance in the clean unbroken line running from the headlight to the tailfin. When you're a Thunderbird fan, you know to look for the extras. Items like the fender skirts, color-matched factory wheel covers, and the freedom that comes with both a soft top and color-matched hardtop. But, of course, the bright work on these is the showstopper. Its mirror-like appearance looks fantastic against the factory-correct red paint on places like the wraparound front bumper, wide mesh grille, accenting the subtle hood scoop, and the twin tailpipes poking through the rear bumper guards. Those whitewall tires are an iconic piece that also tell you someone was thinking about the total coordination of this example. Red with the hint on white on the exterior is also what you get on the inside, too. So this T-bird is a fantastically coordinated package whenever you're open to the world. It's also built to be a great mix of sporting and artful. You see it in seat that has bolstering for individual comfort. The machine turned panel has a great sporty look as it flows across the dash and onto both doors. The steering wheel is a mini work of art finished in red and chrome. And the backlit plexiglass speedometer is pure '50s cool. More than just nostalgic, this classic really feels luxurious with the right features like the thick pile carpeting and a power adjusting seat. Under the hood is the "Thunderbird Special" 292 cubic inch V8. The bright red engine block paint goes nicely with the rest of this car's color. Plus, it looks correct in all the right places, including the Thunderbird special valve covers, windshield washer bag, and the pie dish air topper with correct diaphragm surrounding half of it. This motor inhales deeply through a four-barrel carburetor, and it exhales with a sweet sound out of the dual exhaust. Plus, with power steering and the Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission, you have a truly great boulevard cruiser. This is a true icon of the open road, so don't let this well-finished example slip away. Call now!
