1929 Ford Model A Roadster Description

Not only did the Model A make a name for itself by ably following up on the success of its predecessor, the Model T - arguably the most pivotal car of them all - but over the years it's become a "go to" foundation for legions of street rod enthusiasts to build upon. With its distinctive form dressed in an eye-catching color, this 1929 Ford Model Roadster is a fine example of such handiwork. While pretty much any Model A out on the road will draw focus, the skillfully crafted exterior of this '29, combined with its standout Seafoam green color, really packs serious curb appeal. Fiberglass bodied roadsters yield the favorable power to weight ratio that makes for exhilarating acceleration, and the one here shows off its familiar form very well. Contrasting pinstriping running down the sides and around the back of the cabin adds a nice detail and the look from the front is particularly impressive, with a billet grille in place between the two period-correct sizable headlights. Viewed from the side, the semi-open engine compartment shows off just enough of the powerplant inside to create intrigue without giving away the whole story. When you do spot a Model A Roadster in action, it almost always appears in open air configuration, but in this case there's a matching accessory hard top on hand to put into place for protection from the elements - a definite plus that will allow you to enjoy this classic in more varied weather. Inside, the tan tweed interior sports contrasting purple accents and is not only in great condition but shows a lot of craftsmanship. It's a well-finished driving environment on display here, starting with the bench seat, which is well padded for comfort, and offers nice bolstering for good leg support. The aftermarket steering wheel sits on a column that both tilts and telescopes, so there'll be no issues with arriving at just the perfect driving position. Recessed into a dash that has been painted to match the exterior, the assortment of VDO gauges look great in this setting, sporting gold-colored bezels that really stand out against the steel of the dash, and with parchment colored surfaces and suitably antique-looking fonts. In back, the storage compartment is sizable and well detailed and, from the appearance of its stain free floor and walls, has been treated with care. With the Model A's semi-open engine compartment, you can get a glimpse of the engine standing by inside, and when you lift the hood a 350 cubic inch V8 comes into full view. It's nicely dressed and is running strong, carrying a pair of chrome valve covers that are set off by its orange block and rams horn manifolds leading out to dual exhausts. On top, the 4-barrel Edelbrock carb and intake sit below an open element air cleaner to extract optimum performance from the engine, which teams with a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission to make for a solid-shifting, easy to operate drivetrain. An electric fan has been mated to the radiator to keep temperatures in check, while an added transmission cooler provides a strong measure of protection in more demanding driving conditions. This nicely modded attention magnet rides on a set of American Racing Torq Thrust wheels, outfitted with Kumho tires.
