1934 Ford Cabriolet Convertible 1934 Used Automatic
1934 Ford Cabriolet Description
The 1934 Ford cabriolet is perhaps the ideal body style for a rod. Sporty and compact, with roadster-like proportions, yet equipped with a weather-tight top and roll-up windows, so it can go anywhere, any time. This particular '34 cabrio was built by Innovative Street Machines of Miami, Florida, and it's obvious they put a lot of overtime in on this one. The body is, of course, fiberglass but that is hardly a demerit these days with fiberglass quality being better than the rusty steel you find in a farmer's field. Prep and finish work are all professionally done, so it's no wonder this one has collected a trunk full of trophies in the past. Gaps are uniform, the fenders hug the tires, and there's no denying the appeal of the pointed '34 grille and big vintage headlights. The high-tech white pearl paint actually looks right on the 80-year-old shape, although original details like the suicide-style doors, cowl lights, and elegant taillights all contribute to a traditional look. Correct '34 Ford bumpers were used fore and aft with their instantly-recognizable center dip, and the grille shell has been painted to match the body and stuffed with a billet insert. Thanks to the wonders of modern technology, this cabriolet seems to offer a lot more interior space than the original, and it's used to great effect. Twin bucket seats have been trimmed in eggplant and charcoal gray leather, which contrasts brilliantly with the simple exterior. Matching door panels and a custom center console were added, and the instrument panel was filled with VDO gauges that sport a suitably art-deco font. All the modern conveniences are included, such as A/C, power windows, and a kickin' AM/FM/CD stereo that was artfully integrated into the interior. Overhead there's a matching eggplant-colored folding convertible top that seals up better than any roadster, and a power-actuated lid hides a beautifully finished trunk compartment with a neat flush-mounted fuel filler cap. There's a lot of chrome under the hood, so prepare yourself in advance for the trophies you're sure to collect with this one. The engine is a 350 Chevy topped by a 4-barrel carburetor, but the point isn't horsepower, it's reliability and attention to detail, and this car delivers. Power steering and brakes were added, and of course all the accessories are chrome-plated, with a bright red distributor cap for the HEI ignition system offering some contrast. A 700R4 4-speed automatic overdrive makes high-speed driving effortless, but you'll want to dip into the throttle now and then just to savor the sound of the custom-built dual exhaust system. The front suspension uses upper and lower A-arms and coil-overs, while the rear appears to be a production-derived trailing arm setup, so it's easy to handle with no surprises. Classic Torque Thrust wheels wear a traditional big-n-little combination of 185/60/14 front and 215/75/15 rear blackwall radials. Always beautiful, this 1934 Ford also offers performance and practicality to go with its award-winning good looks. Call today!
