1940 Ford Deluxe Description

This is one seriously stylish vintage cruiser with traditional street rod flames. The rust free, all steel body was a perfect starting point for keeping the iconic lines of the '40 Ford original while updating it with modern running gear. It is the same roomy, comfortable car it always was, but is faster, drives better, and you gotta' admit, the flames are pretty awesome. Paint jobs are never easy to get right, but at least this car didn't need any repairs or panel adjustments before getting down to the surface prep. Once that Black paint was laid down and it was certain that it would catch the light and reflect it back along the graceful curves of the body, then those traditional flames were laid out on the front and painted on. The view from directly in front is awesome. It leads with Yellow paint and a line of chrome running down the center of the hood splitting the polished Art Deco grill that is flanked by chromed tear drop headlights. It is all underlined by a sharp looking chrome bumper and grill guard. The flames trail off on the hood and fenders leaving the curve of the roof heading down over the split rear window and trunk as the focus of attention at the back. A Ford V8 badge graces the trunk lid and chevron shaped taillights are underlined by another shiny chrome bumper. Open the door and you will find a neat and clean interior with some nice modern upgrades. The door panel is simple in gray with a dark gray accent across the top and dark gray carpet on the bottom. The bench seat follows the same pattern with dark gray accents and piping on light gray. A late model GM tilt steering column has a two-spoke wheel with a Ford center and a billet end on the shifter for the automatic transmission. The dash panel has a nice set of VDO gauges with a speedometer in the center with fuel, oil, water, and voltage meters to each side of it. There is a Clarion AM/FM/Cassette player for your listening pleasure and a placard on the glove box door indicates participation at the 1997 Indy 500 with the Good Guys group. The glass in the car is all new and there is plenty of room both front and rear, so traveling in this car is a pleasure. Pop the hood and you will find outline flames on the underside and a tried and true 302 cubic inch V8 nestled down inside the engine bay. A chrome air filter assembly tops the engine and feeds an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor and Edelbrock intake manifold. Finned aluminum Cobra valve covers look great and an MSD ignition sends the spark out through red plug wires. Signs of good routine maintenance include newer belts and hoses. Exhaust flows out through stock manifolds to a dual exhaust system with cutouts exiting under the running boards in the event you wish to make a little noise. Power is sent back through a 3-speed automatic transmission to a 9' Ford rear end. The front end is a Mustang II set up with coil springs, rack and pinion steering and disc brakes. The car sits on Coker wide white wall tires that are 225/75R15 in the rear and 205/75R15s in the front, mounted on old school steel wheels that are black and red with a polished ring and Ford center cap. A classic street rod with traditional flames. A solid, nice driving, comfortable car to cruise in. Come on down and check it out. You may decide to cruise on home with it.
