1966 Ford F-100 Custom Cab Description

How often do you come across a vintage pickup that's more than a half century old and yet is very much capable of plying its trade as a work truck while impressing onlookers with its classic awesomeness? Not often, but here's one. This 1966 Ford F-100 Custom Cab is a trusty mechanical workhorse and it still displays its original two-tone color scheme over a well-fitted exterior while representing its era proudly. This '66 closed out Ford's...fourth generation of F-100s, which sported a longer and lower form than earlier generations, with a more expansive cabin and a better center of gravity for more comfortable driving. The generously sized bed in back - the longest offered on this model at the time - reinforces its identity as a work truck, albeit an impressively preserved and sharp example. The two-tone Sahara Beige and white color combo is the same one this pickup started out with and still looks very sharp. From front to back, everything appears well aligned, with nice even gaps surrounding the hood and doors and a liftgate that opens and closes very smoothly. The contrasting painted front and rear bumpers really add to this Ford's vintage style will definitely help it make an impact at local car shows. The interior has been updated while sticking to a period-correct look, so there's a lot to like inside these doors. The black vinyl bench seat is plushly padded and shows little wear, blending nicely with the accents on the door panels to each side and the carpeting lining the floor, while a snug fitting headliner has been added above. The dash area just beyond the original steering wheel is really looking great - its color scheme matches the exterior and an assortment of updated gauges have been recessed into the instrument cluster to give off a thorough factory look with a higher level of functionality. The attention to detail inside this classic Ford is impressive to behold - the AM radio at the center of the dash appears just as it did when it was new and every control knob and switch is properly aligned and securely mounted. In back, the expansive bed area is very clean, with its inner walls showing no issues from shifting cargo and a floor protected by a sturdy rubber mat - another hint that this truck is ready for faithful service should you so choose. The engine compartment is well detailed, with flat black inner fenders and firewall that display the 352 cubic inch V8 to perfection. It is believed to be the original powerplant and, equipped with its 2-barrel carb and manual choke, is in impressive running condition, starting right up and pulling with conviction. The black Edelbrock air cleaner it wears on top contrasts perfectly with the crisp blue of the engine. The 3-speed manual transmission just behind it is also in top form, shifting smoothly and joined by a clutch that's got a nice, precise engagement point. A number of components under the hood appear to have been recently replaced to increase reliability, including the radiator, belts, hoses and wires. This classic rolls on a set of 15" stock wheels that are outfitted with Goodyear Wrangler radials with plenty of tread left. Equally at home getting things done on the farm or worksite as it is drawing admiring nods while on the road, this 1966 Ford F-100 Custom Cab features a rare combination of well-preserved, rugged good looks and a reassuringly strong running condition.
