1970 Ford Mustang Description

1970 FORD MUSTANG V-8 302 COUPE

PROJECT

If you have ever wanted a 70 Mustang Coupe project that was affordable, This is the car! It would make a great Father and Son or Daughter project.

The engine is out of the car, which is perfect, since you can buy a rebuilt 302 or even a bigger 351 engine with a guarantee, from almost anywhere, and drop it right in the car. We have some suppliers we can recommend if you need any help. You will need a transmission, as well, but again, you can often find a package deal already rebuilt and running.

If you want a 351 Cleveland, and FMX transmission, we have that package available separately at a very reasonable price.
Likely the original color was brown, but you can paint it any color you like.

We have included some pictures of other Mustangs at the end of the photos below showing how the car might look when finished.

The 1970 Mustang brought buyers into the showrooms by the thousands and Ford’s strategy worked—selling more Mustangs than ever before.
When fully restored, this car will easily sell for $15,000 or more.

BODY:
The driver’s door is dented, but it can be pulled out or just buy a new door skin for $58. The floors will need to be patched but shouldn’t need to be replaced, and the frame is straight and strong. Both quarters are in pretty good shape but there are a couple of rust spots that can be easily fixed, and we can coach you through the process. Rather than trying to fix the hood, we would recommend you simply buy a new one, typical cost is about $275, and will save you a bunch of time. Overall this Mustang is a great candidate for a concourse restoration.

INTERIOR:
The interior will need a little work, but not much, and it is really the easiest part of the restoration. The good news is that you can see what is needed. You aren’t accepting someone else’s mistakes or bad repairs. We have the instrument panel which was out of the car when the pictures were taken.
All the wiring, instrument panel, seats, etc. will come with the car but will need to be restored.
We have the seats which were not in the car when the pictures were taken.

Both seats will need to be reupholstored, and we can sell you anything you need for redoing the interior. The door panels and dash pad are included, but you will probably want new ones anyway.

ENGINE BAY:
Engine bay is in great condition. If you want to upgrade, a 302, stroked to a 347 or 351 Windsor will drop right in, and get the car running quickly. Again, we have the very powerful Cleveland engines available separately. If you are interested, please let us know.

Please contact us separately for recommendations on where to find the engine you want.

BRAKE SYSTEM:
The mustang has front and rear drum brakes. They are intact and complete. If you would rather have front disk brakes, we can add those for $1,500.

GLASS:
The coupe will come with all its rear glass, but you will need a new windshield.

MISC.
The Mustang comes with everything shown in the pictures, and most all of its parts. I have a couple of contacts for all the other NOS stuff you may need
At MustangBeginnings we are here to help you make your restoration a success..

WE HAVE 100% POSITIVE FEEDBACK AND PLAN TO KEEP IT THAT WAY! THERE ARE NO SURPRISES HERE, I ENCOURAGE ALL THOSE WHO BID TO COME SEE THE CAR FIRST IF POSSIBLE OR SEND SOMEONE HERE TO INSPECT IT. WE HAVE COMPLETED OTHER 67 MUSTANGS AND KNOW WHAT IT TAKES TO COMPLETE THIS CAR. THIS IS A GOOD CAR TO START WITH. PLEASE REMEMBER THIS IS A 67 MUSTANG THAT NEEDS TO BE REBUILT INTO SOMETHING SPECIAL.
AGAIN, WE STRONGLY ENCOURAGE ALL BIDDERS TO CHECK THE CAR OUT IF POSSIBLE THAT WAY THERE ARE NO MISUNDERSTANDING, MISTAKES, MISCOMMUNICATION, AND ALL THE OTHER MISES.
THE CAR MIGHT NEED THINGS WE DID NOT LIST BUT THE MAJOR ONES HAVE BEEN LISTED. WE PUT THE WORD “PROJECT” IN THE DESCRIPTION TO COVER ANYTHING WE MIGHT HAVE NOT SEEN. WE HAVE THE CAR FOR SALE LOCALLY AND RESERVE THE RIGHT TO END AUCTION EARLY.
