If you have ever wanted a true, steel-bodied 1929 Ford Model A Roadster with a blown Chrysler Hemi, look no further! The entire vehicle was professionally built by Thompson Engineering in Fullerton, CA with numerous items customized in keeping with the hot-rodding trends of the 1960's. The body is a Brookville '29 all-steel roadster body, with a functional rumble seat, sitting on a boxed '32 frame by American Stampings. The body, frame, and radiator cowl are coated in nine quarts of high-gloss black, while the wheels, engine, and transmission are painted a high-gloss red. The front axle is chromed, dropped, drilled, and highlighted with painted accents. The wheels are 1940 Ford-style by WheelSmith, with polished hubcaps and beauty rings, capped with Kelly Tires.

The interior was conpleted by Bill's Interior in La Habra, CA. The leatherette upholstery, including the rear rumble seat, is in same shade of red that matches the wheels and drivetrain. Custom wiring was supplied by Centech. Interior components such as the dash, pedals, and seats are period-correct and minimalistic, but the Stewart-Warner gauges, Flaming River floor shifter, emergency brake handle, working turn signals, and safety belts keep the driver in touch with the vehicle and the environment. Headlights are 1929 Ford-style with integral turn signals, while the taillights are from a 1940 Ford.

The engine is a 1956-vintage Chrysler 392 FirePower Hemi, re-machined by Joe Sherman in Santa Ana, CA with less than 4200 miles since the restoration. Perched above the Hemi is a chromed Blower Drive Service 6-71 Supercharger, 10% underdriven, topped by two Edelbrock carburetors and a period correct, chromed BDS air scoop. The fuel tank is a 17-gallon unit custom-designed and built by Thompson Engineering. Exhaust is handled by chromed Sanderson Headers with cut-outs and a complete custom and chromed dual exhaust, fabricated by Thompson Engineering, terminating just above and behind the differential. All of the blown Hemi power travels through a bulletproof Chevrolet Turbo-400, three-speed automatic transmission built by Steve Cohan (the same builder for Robbie Gordon's off-road racing trucks), through a custom-built driveshaft from Orange County Driveline to the chromed Currie Enterprises 9" differential. Cooling duties are handled by a three-stage Ron Davis aluminum radiator.

The body, frame, and drivetrain are highly detailed and are either high-gloss painted or chrome plated. Suspension components are heavily chrome plated. Front suspension uses a dropped forged steel axle to support the weight of the Hemi, along with a transverse spring and Pete & Jakes' shocks from SoCAl Speed. Rear suspension is based on a TCI four-link system with coil-over shocks. Front brakes first appear to be 1957 Buick finned aluminum drums, but the drums actually conceal modern front disc brakes. rear brakes are standard drums for the Currie 9" differential. The fuel tank is a 17 gallon custom-designed and hand-built by Thompson Engineering.

This vehicle is titled as a 1929 Ford based on an original, serialized 1929 Ford engine, which will go with the vehicle in the sale. I have all of the paperwork, a clear title, and photos showing the entire build-up. This roadster is the real deal and was assembled by professionals with high quality components. Idle quality and drivability are excellent, and it will run smoothly all-day long. Don't miss your chance to own an iconic piece of hot rodding from Southern California.
