I have decided to put my 1932 Ford Sedan for sale. This is an original Canadian car (VIN # C18R-xxxx).
This is a period-correct, unchopped traditional hot rod. This was built following advices from Vern Tardel, and some of the car was actually left untouched with the original patina (firewall, underside of the hood). The rest of the car is all redone, but with matching slight wear. It really looks like a survivor car.
This beauty is a trouble-free, turn-key vehicle that runs really good. I put 14000 miles on it since restoration. It is not a show car, by all means, but a fantastic and correct hot-rod.
Details:
This car has an all steel body with new Brockville front fenders and new running boards. The body was repaired by a professional shop for the rear wheelwell. I bought this car in 2009 and it was then completely disassembled and all parts were cleaned or replaced. I spent two years on the restoration, which was finished in 2011.
The frame was sandblasted and painted with a PPG epoxy. The front crossmember was replaced with one from a Model A. The front wishbone is split and comes from a 1940 Ford. The front beam is a 4 inch drop SoCal drilled with ‘48 spindles and ‘40 drums (juice brakes). It’s got a 36 rearend and wishbone. All bearing, seals and brand new 3:54 gear (Richmond) was used. Rear brakes are from a ‘48 Ford. All brakes, liners and hoses were replaced during restoration. The engine is a 1946 Mercury C59a. It was completely rebuilt and balanced. New pistons 0,125" oversize (3ring design), 8BA connecting rods, new valves and guides, adjustable lifters, new hi-volume oil pump, new Speedway water-pump, Petronix electronic ignition. This as-new engine is topped by a Slingshot Edelbrock dual intake with 2 Holley 94 model 59. The alternator is a PowerGen!! Steering box is from a 1956 Mercury F100.
The tranny is a 1939 case (code 78) with ‘48 gear, topped with double detente swan shifter, coupled with an 11inch clutch. Car has ‘36 16 inch wire wheels mounted with firestone champion deluxe 6.00-16 front 7.00-16 in rear. Tires are in good shape.
The body was painted with PPG water paint and I made a light patina. It is topped with a brand new vinyl roof. All glass is original and in very good shape with no cracks.
The interior sports the original seat frames recovered by a good quality vinyl. New floor carpet. The original Stewart Warner insert panel is dressed with a set of new wing’s cage. The RPM on the steering is a classic instrument. The steering is from a 1956 F-100 and steering wheel is a 1939 deluxe.
