1948 Ford Flathead V8 Former Fire Truck 3,000 Miles
1948 Ford Other Pickups F-68 (Canadian equivalent to F-3 6800 lb GVW) Description
A special 1948 Ford truck. Always stored inside at the Amherst Fire Station. Seldom used as a Fire Department Truck and then purchased by me in 1975. From then until now it has been stored in my collector car garage with other old Fords. I don't think that it has been outside over night in its whole life. I am a retired Ford Mercury Dealer, having sold my business in 1997. Sale price includes original Purchase Order and Bill of Sale to Amherst Fire Department as well as Sale Brochure. The five original tires have not been exposed to sunlight and are still good. No air added to any of them for 40 years. Front tires are 7:00 x 17 and rear are 7:50 x 17 as specified in purchase order. The original seat is like new as is floor mat. The headlights are both original to the truck and are stamped June 25, 1948. They both have the Ford logo molded into the glass headlight. All glass is original Ford glass. The truck starts better than any flathead V8 I have ever seen and idles quietly. The transmission is a four speed which feels like new and is silent when shifted into high. It was painted in 1975 when the sirens and signage were removed. It has some small dents and imperfections. The grill and stainless steel side ornaments are original and perfect. Classified as HD 3/4 Ton in brochure. The Canadian F-68 is equivalent to the U.S. F-3. Same specs and both are 6,800 lbs GVW. Truck in located in Amherst, Nova Scotia. Price is $25,000 U.S. I will deliver it by trailer to Maine if purchased in US. Easy shipping from there. Phone 902-667-0882 or 902 397-1305. billcasey*hotmail.com
