Rare 1958 Ford Fairlane 500 “Spring Special”. It has a 390 engine (Engine code: C6ME-A), Cruise–O-Matic (3 speed) automatic trans. and factory power steering. After the previous owner died the car was put into storage. After almost a decade in storage, I bought it from his widow in 2016. After retrieving it the following was done: New brakes, wheel cylinders and power booster unit, New aluminum radiator, New stainless steel coolant recovery tank, New “Flex-A-Lite” fan, New fuel tank & sender, New fuel pump, Rebuilt Carter AFB carburetor sitting atop a “Weiand” intake manifold, Rebuilt power steering pump, Serviced transmission, New belts & hoses, New shocks, New tires including spare, New chrome SS wheels, Re-paint to factory colors (2.5 yrs. ago), New interior, New dash cover, New “Retrosound” AM/FM/MP3 radio, New dual cone dash speaker & quad gauges, New “New Port Engineering” electric wiper motor, New front door sills, New period correct seat belts, New trunk seal, New hood ornament, fender trim & emblems. New tail light lenses, Re-chromed the rear bumper, New “Pertronix” Ignitor, New “MSD Street Fire” ignition box, new “MSD Street Fire” ignition wires. The entire car was undercoated at one time and no frame or floor rust is visable. There are a few rust bubbles present at the left side of the trunk opening. The rear tailpipes are functional, but could use some attention. I have a set of new door seals, but they have not been installed. The stock wheels and wheel covers come with the car. I also have misc. extra parts that go with the car. The car is currently registered and the tags are good until Jan. 2020. This is not a show car, but a very nice driver. I get a “thumbs up” wherever I go. Since this is a 61 year old car, it is sold "AS-IS, WHERE-IS"Call or text, (909) 630-2007.
The “Spring Special” version of the Fairlane wasproduced from March 1958 to June 1958, in an attempt to bolster sagging sales figures. The Spring Specialsfeatured three “exhaust ports” on the rear quarter-panels, and a ribbed, gold anodized trim piece, surrounded by chrome trim, located within the side cove area. The Fairlane script appeareddirectly above the grille opening, on the body sides and in the center of the trunk lid.
