1970 Ford Torino Description
1970 Torino Cobra, code 429CJ, utomatic, haker, uckets, onsole, ach(works well), ear window defogger(works) etc. This car is highly optioned from the factory and came in what is probably the best color available on these cars, alypso Coral. This car does not have the original drive train any longer and now has a 429 Thunderjet with a mild Crane cam, t seems to run well. The engine does have the correct CJ valve covers, ntake and exhaust manifolds so it looks very correct under the hood. The radiator and shroud appear to be correct although there is a crack in the shroud. The transmission is not the original but is a nice working C6. The rear end came with 3.50 gears from the factory but now has a 28 spline 4.11(guessing from driving impression) trak-lok. The speedometer is now a ways off because of the gear change. This car has sat and has some rust issues in the cowl, loor pans(pass side mostly), runk area in the very back portion and the lip where the weatherstrip goes. Also there is some rust in the rear qtr panels in the very bottom behind the tires. The deck lid has rust also. The frame rails, orque boxes, ockers etc are nice, his is not a car that has been exposed to salt, ust rusted where the water settled when it sat. This car has been driven around a little bit but is not yet a daily driver, t was my intention to make it my no guilt winter driver and restore it later. As I was getting close to this I found another Cobra that is a completely numbers matching 4 speed, /c car so this one must go. Before considering this a driver I would replace the gas tank, eater core and do some exhaust work to make sure it is reliable.
