1965 Ford Mustang Barn Find - 289 C Code Car Rustfree
1965 Ford Mustang coupe Description
This is a real barn find 65 c code 289 mustang. This car has been in storage since the 70s inside in a garage (over 40 years). The car is rust free and never been wrecked. Car was from the Washington DC area (but stored in Ohio where the owner had storage). We pulled it from storage on May 10th for it to be sold. I am helping my friend sell the car and he is the second owner of the car I was told. The door vin matches the drivers inner fender.
The owner customized the car and painted the car because he didn't like the original color (P code Prarie Bronze). Mileage says 00428, but I am not sure if it may have flipped. The old title for it doesn't state mileage. The owner says it wasn't driven much. On the interior, he painted some of the panels to match the car and the seats were dyed black (original coded Palomino Vinyl). The engine was also painted in Ford Blue. Motor is free now and rolls good with the starter. Will be working on getting it running soon if time allows. It does need gone through before it could be put on the road. Car is optioned with lots of nice features: Power steering, power drum brakes and factory AC as well as rocker moldings. He added some other things to the car including the rally pac gauges and the GT lights. Emblems were removed when it was painted. Last three pictures show the car as found (after we added roller tires/wheels since we didn't know if the old polyglas tires would pump back up). Have a small box with some extra parts including a pair of the bumperettes. Chrome and stainless is real nice on it and not pitted up, everything should polish up nice, I only wiped stuff down and used waterless car wash on the outside after it was removed from storage. The back bumper is the only outside chrome that may not completely polish beautifully from what it looks like, but nothing has been buffed, polished etc.... Doors close nice with no sag in them.
Interior is excellent, dash headliner sun visors seats are near perfect (driver's shows a crack on the seat bottom). Carpet shows some age. Only things updated on the car were normal tune up items and shocks. Also, the trans had leak stop added when it sat and then the trans had an issue and he rebuilt it.
Has the original owner's manual with it with the original owners info filled in the back. Spare tire is in the trunk. Car will include steel wheels with the old polyglas tires and 57 Ford hubcaps that it was stored with (have 4 tires holding air at this point). While the car will need some mechanical resto from sitting, this is an unbelievable find for a car and a great start for someone looking for an original 289 65 coupe. You would not have to worry about any rust repair and the interior is excellent. The lacquer paint does show cracking from age (some flaking on hood where the paint separated) but is very presentable.
I reserve the right to end the auction early as I have the car listed elsewhere for sale. Those with less than 10 feedback need to contact me before bidding.
