1972 Mustang Conv. 408 Stroker with AOD trans California car
1972 Ford Mustang convertible Description
You are bidding on my 1972 Mustang convertible. I purchased it 12/14/2014 for $13,400 from Beverly Hills California where it resided its entire life and the title shows California. It came to me plain red with no frills with the H code 351 with 177hp. Over the next couple years I added over $25,000 in stuff. I added a lot of paint repair, spoilers, chrome, 408 stroker, Ford AOD from a 1992 Mustang, rearend, suspension, steering, tires, rims, brakes, exhaust, stereo, etc, etc etc..... The 408 was built from the 351 Cleveland using a SCAT stroker kit. It was built for drivabibility and reliability not drag racing but is no slouch. It has about 390hp and 500 lbs/ft of torque. It has Edelbrocks #4106 750cfm carb performer manifold and #2107 cam. The AOD was rebuilt to hold 500hp and took a lot of work to make a 4spd work in a 3 spd car but it is nice to cruise up to 90 mph on expressways with no problem and get 17-18mpg. The suspension was redone with all newer style components (mostly Scott Drake) upgraded sway bar in front and I added a sway bar in the rear as well and added Caltrac adjustable link drag bars from Calvert racing. KYB gas adjust shocks front and rear 5 leaf instead of 4 leaf rear springs and 1" lowering springs in front. I removed the giant steering wheel and added a close ratio steering box as well. The exhaust was redone with headers 2 1/2' exhaust and magnaflow mufflers. The rear end is a Ford 9" and all rebuilt with 3.50 Richmond gears and traction lock posi. I redid the brakes power front disc drum rear, the tires (275x60x15 rear & 235x60x15 front) and the rims. I added the spoilers, striping and the Mach 1 hood and had it correctly paintednot decals. I had the A/C switched to 134 but my new compressor was damaged by the installer. they didn'ttighten the lines and the oil ranout and burned it up so it would need another compressor. New starter, alternator, battery and power steering pump. I redid the trunk. I had a stereo system installed by a shop with huge amp JL Audio sub kenwood speakers and custom autosound stereo (looks old but isn't) The top is power and works perfectlybut does have one small flaw that has been vinyl repaired and shouldn't leak but I never use with top up or in rain. I do have a cover and the parade boot with it as well.I repainted the interior and added new carpet as well. I know I am missing many thingsbut the jist is this is a great driver muscle car that can be used to cruise long distances and look great and cruise ins and local shows. I don't really want to sell it but I am forced to do so. I know it's not worth what I have in it but I would do a buy it now of low to mid 20's if interested. If you have questions just ask. I am home pretty much every day so If you want to come see it feel free.
