This fire engine was decommissioned in the summer of 2018 and has logged less than fifty miles since.
I have been informed by members of the fire department that the tank has been drained and the valves have been left in the open position to allow drainage and prevent damage from freezing temperatures. I do not know how to operate the pumps and unfortunately was not given any paperwork to go with the fire engine. I am slowly collecting instruction manuals from Ford, Caterpillar, and Hale pumps for the new owner. Some manuals will be paper, others will electronic, stored on a thumb drive.
The photos of the rust at the bottom of the front fenders and the side of the cab extensions is the worst of the rust. Other than what is pictured, the rest of the fire engine is in good shape.Although this fire engine is 40 years old, it has been well maintained and ready for action most of its life. This fire engine has been owned by the same fire company (Conway VFD) for almost forty years until my purchase. As the current owner, I start it once a month, check the fluids, and drive it for a couple of miles after it is warmed up.The truck has a new battery and back-up beeper. This is an absolute joy to drive.
This is equipped with an "extended cabâ€. There is a second rear facing seat behind the cab. Although open to the weather, the rear seat is covered by the extended roof. There is enough seating for a total of one driver and five passengers. I have seen other retired fire engines converted to dump trucks or flat-bed car haulers. This is equipped with a PTO that drives the pumps that can be re-used for other things.
I am located near Baden, PA; near the Northern Lights Shopping Center, along PA Route 65, in Beaver County. This is about 23 miles northwest of Pittsburgh. This is also about nine miles west of Cranberry, PA where I-79 and the PA Turnpike intersect.
I work evening shift so I am available in the late morning and early afternoon during the week. I am available all day Saturday and Sunday (days off). PayPal is NOT accepted as payment. If you are a serious potential buyer, please contact me and we can discuss payment options.
I have no clue what a de-commissioned fire truck is worth, but I am open to R-E-A-S-O-N-A-B-L-E offers. What's the worst that can happen ???If you are truly interested; stop out, inspect the truck / kick the tires, go for a ride. The fire engine is currently stored in my driveway and has to go.
PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ASK QUESTIONS. I will try to answer them as best as I can.
Please Note: This fire engine is for sale by private owner and NOT the Conway Borough, nor the Conway VFD. A portion of the sale will be donated to the Conway VFD and Conway Recreation Committee.
The truck is sold AS-IS, where it is, with no warranty expressed nor implied. Shipping costs are the responsibility of the buyer.
ATTENTION: Unfortunately, due to the high listing fees, this will be the last time I list this fire engine on Ebay.
