1975 vintage custom shorty ford survivor boogie street van e150 death dealer
1975 Ford E-Series Van Description
This is a 1975 (first year of this body) ford e150. In the van world known as a “nose” or “big nose”. I’ve owned it the last few years. I bought it up in Pittsburg and drove it home to Orlando towing another van. It’s got a stout strong 300l6 motor arguably the most indestructible motor ever built and a bulletproof MANUAL 3 speed transmission that’s also know for its reliability. I believe (not positive) this is also the manual overdrive transmission. I think it kicked in one day going around 85mph to Daytona. Looked it up because i didn’t know manual trans had overdrive and it says it was an option. Does this one have it i don’t know for sure. I bought it in Pittsburg, slept overnight in it then tagged it in the am and drove to Norfolk va where i picked up another van and towed it home with it to Orlando! The motor was souped up with hot rod parts like a Clifford racing intak and Holley 4bbl, hooker headers and a hei distributor. Sounds tough like it has a mild cam. Although it does not! It’s been mostly parked the last year and i don’t want it to sit so I’m selling it. . It’s a “10 footer” far from perfect and just a cool cruiser. I still drive it occasionally To work. Just drove it problem free on a 120 mile trip the other day down i4 and 95. The side door is a gullwing style. The air struts broke so its pretty heavy, and i just prop it open with a piece of angle iron. It could also use some minor adjusting but it’s just too heavy for me to bother with honestly. The only issues i can think to mention is that it had rust in the drip rails previously, has some rust on the drivers side rocker, not the panel but the flat spot that hangs from the body perpendicular to the ground where the side pipe attaches. And also is cold blooded, def need the choke to get it running and takes a solid 20-30 seconds of idling before you should drive it. And true to these damn “gangster” windshield visors it wants to vibrate in the wind at high speeds, i put a blanket under it when I’m on the highways going over 60 to keep it from vibrating too bad because i lost one just like it on a Chevy van a few years back. I can send videos of it driving down the highway if need be. The interior is the original amazing interior with orange and brown tweed seats, the back seat folds down into a bed and the cabinets in the back are amazing. The last few pictures are photos from its lifetime. In the 70s the owners drove it all over and it had teardrop bubbles in it, in the 80s and 90s the original owners had kids and “updated it” to have bay windows and put those 80s wheels on it. Then you can see when i purchased it i added urethane flares and turbine wheels, the visor, grill and louvers not only on the rear windows but also all marker lights and the hood! It’s tough as nails and ready to get some new loving from another owner who will love it the way it needs. It’s 40 years old and is sold as is so please understand that. I can only tell you what i know. And i know the drivetrain is solid as a rock and its a bad looking mofo but it’s still over 40 years old and in the years I’ve owned it i replaced two wheel bearings and random odds and ends because well it’s over 40 years old! If you ask me if you can drive it home anywhere out of the state I can only say i trust the drivetrain without a doubt but it’s still over 40! So seriously please don’t ask me a to make any guarantees. It’s for sale locally so i reserve the right to end the auction anytime.
