1988 Ford F-250 Description

My son and I bought this truck in 2007 to work on as a project. I have included a before picture to show that it was a solid truck when we started. Mechanically it was very good except the original 302 used a little oil. We had a 1993 F-150 in the family that had a very solid 302 in it. We used the motor, upgraded bench seat, and doors from the donor. Other than that, it is all original to the truck. We removed the bed and the interior and stripped and painted the frame. We added sound deadening to the cab, replaced the floor mat, added a cover over the dash, and a new seat cover. The sheet metal was rust free so we cleaned it up and had it repainted in the original dark blue color. The bumpers are in excellent condition. We've replaced the headlights, taillights, sliding rear window, starter, alternator, and battery.

The truck has the 5 speed manual with granny low and overdrive. It has manual locking hubs and the 4X4 works well. It has 4.56 gears that allowthe 302to movethe truck down the road easilywith the larger tires. It shifts and drives as it should. It has 2" leveling leaves on the front and 1" blocks in the rear. The A/C works and it has an aftermarket stereo that includes CD and aux/USB connections. It has a drop in bed liner and bed mat. The tires have 90% tread. It took us about 4 years to complete this truck and we run historic plates on it so it's not driven very often. When it is driven, it is warmed up thoroughly and driven enough to exercise everything properly. Since we've owned it, it's never seen snow, rain, or mud. It is stored in a climate controlled garage and is religiously maintained. It is not show quality but it wouldn't take much more than an engine bay detail and professional exhaustto get it there.

This truck sounds good and really turns heads. All our friends are Chevy guys and even they love this truck. It's not perfect but it's one of the nicest '88's you'll find - if you can find one.
