1961 Mercury Comet
Up for sale is a 1961 Comet, 2dr, 6Cyl, 3 speed on the column (stick shift). Car was in dry storage for 25 years before I acquired it and is showing just over 33, 000 miles. I would believe this to be original based on the condition of the car and how well it runs and drives. Engine runs smooth, starts right up, no noise or smoke. Clutch and drive lineengage smoothly and drives like a new car.The only 2 issues I see with the car is the blinker stalk came off (I have a NOS replacement) and the GEN light flickers from time to time (needs brush cleaning and possible new brushes).The Comet is completely original with NO modifications at all. Interior is almost perfect no rips or discolorations as it the trunk with the original mat, jack and spare tire. The car has some rust as indicated in the pictures, common rust in usual places. Floors and trunk are good, there is a little rust (size of a dollar bill) where fender meets floor on PS. The rest of the car is solid from what I’m seeing. Turn signal stalk was missing when I bought the car, I purchased a NOS one that needs to be installed it will come with the car. Work done to the Comet include 4 new shocks, 4 tires, new brakes, wheel cylinders and hoses all around. New fuel pump, battery, replacement of all flexible fuel lines, filter and rebuilt carburetor. Chassis lube and all fluid and oils changed. This is great driver for someone looking for a uniqueoriginal low production classic.
