1966 Ford Ford GT Description

Ex SYD TAYLOR racing colours GT40

Chassis P/1042(1001) is a 1966 Ford GT40 289ci Mk1. It has undergone a painstaking ten years reconstruction using some old chassis panelsmated to a new tub to Ford/Lola blueprints and original bodywork which saw action in the 1966 Le Mans 24 Hours Race with Jacky Ickx at the wheel. This is a matching numbers GT40 and has been authenticated and approved by the great GT40 historian Ronnie Spain. I have a correspondence on file from him stating it will appear in the next edition of his book on the marque.

The car featured in numerous prestigious classic motoring events during 2017-19, including; Silverstone Classic Media Day, Chateau Impney Hill Climb, Castle Coombe Autumn Classic, Goodwood Festival of Speed and was invited to race at the Le Mans Classic.

It has been reconstructed using 100% period original or NOS GT40 parts and simply looks, smells and feels, like an old race car. This was a "no expense spared" reconstruction and there is a huge suitcase full of history and photographic restoration images. It has a UK 1966 Title and FIA/MSA Historic Technical Passport, so is ready for the road or track.

Interested parties can call +44(0)1747854423, bearing in mind the eight hours' time difference between the USA and UK please. When totally original GT40s with continuous history are selling for upwards of $10M, then why not take advantage of the current US $ to UK £ exchange rate and get yourself a genuine GT40.

The GT40 can be inspected at an independent motorsport workshop. I can assist with the arrangements for shipping from the UK, or why not take it to Spa, Belgium, for their 50th anniversary celebrations of the GT40 marque at the end of September 2019.

I am looking at offers above $1,000,000 (one million”. This is a serious historic GT40, but should not be confused with chassis GT40P/1042, although the history file does identify the provenanceof P/1042(1001) back to 1966 and is authenticated by volumes of paperwork, period photographs and racing memorabilia.
