1963 Ford Galaxie XL 500 Description

I just found this great little Galaxie xl 500 that has been in a barn for about 25 years. Here’s the story as far as I can tell. It was purchased in 94 in Tennessee and driven home to Ohio by an elderly gentleman and then he started dissembling it. But as far as he got was removing the bumpers and most of the molding. And then he became ill and couldn’t work on it so he just pulled it back in the barn and that’s where it sat. Until about a year ago when the son-in-law pulled it out and started working on it a little bit. He installed a new gas tank and had a new duel exhaust with flo masters installed. He also put new mag wheels and tires on it. And that’s where he quit on it and pulled it back in the barn and that’s where I came in I bought it and brought it home and started getting it ready to start. All it took was some fresh gas and recharge the battery. And after all that time the motor fired up and ran beautifully it didn’t even smoke at all and that new exhaust sounds great. My intentions were to start sanding and priming but after thinking about it I think I will just pass it on if someone else wants it because it has what I believe to be a pretty uncommon paint and trim package. It still has quite a bit of the original paint and I think the color is rose beige with a white top and white bucket seat interior. With lots of patina. So what I done was just go ahead and reinstall all the molding and the rear bumper and clean the interior up as good as I could so everyone could see how complete this car is it also has the front bumper but I haven’t installed it yet but it looks pretty good also. This car has never been cut on or strip of any of it original parts other than what I described it even still has the original spare tire that still has the Nipples on it and I don’t think the jack has ever been used. Now this car is not completely rust free but it is pretty damn close the trunk is beautiful as is most of the rest of the body and frame. The only rust thru that I could find is a little bit in the front floor board on each side and a very small spot on the driver rear quarter way down low. Other than that she is solid as a rock. She even still has the original 352 and fmx trans in it. The car runs and drives really good. And the only problems I can find is that it isn’t charging and the trans isn’t shifting quite rite. Other than that everything else works fine. Even the brakes work good. Also all of the lights and wipers work fine. So if you’re looking for a really nice project this just might be the one.
