Up for sale today I have my 1987 Ford Thunderbird with only 74,000 miles on it. I purchased this car off the original owner’s family, the car was owned by an elderly female and willed to her son who never drove the car and decided to sell it. The car has always been garage kept from what I was told and has never seen a winter. The original owner retired and this was her retirement gift, she had an Oldsmobile that she drove as a daily driver and in the winter and the T-Bird was kept for the nice weather.
The car is very nicely equipped including power windows, power locks, tilt wheel, cruise control, AM/FM/Cass, air conditioning, power driver seat, power mirrors, automatic headlights, automatic bright lights, styled road wheels, electronic speedometer and the illuminated entry system. The car is powered by the 3.8 liter V6 engine with electronic fuel injection connected to an automatic overdrive transmission. The car runs and drives very nice and every option on the car is in perfect working order including the A/C that blows nice and cold. No fluid leaks or exhaust leaks and it drives nice and straight down the road. The car is quiet and no wind noise is evident with all the rubber seals still being very pliable.
The car has a set a new tires on it (ones on the car were in good shape but 25 years old and I don’t trust old tires), a new battery, new front brake pads and an oil change was performed about 500 miles ago. The car was sitting in a garage for a couple years so these services were performed prior to driving the car.
I have every receipt for this car since new in a nice binder. All the dealership books are included with the car and even the sales receipt, financing paperwork, ownership cards and yes the scratch paper that the original owner took to the dealership when she ordered the vehicle with the options she wanted. The car was purchased with a Ford extended service plan and was rustproofed using the ford “Super Seal” so the underneath looks like new. Every oil change receipt and service receipt is included with the car and the binder will be included with the sale.
The condition of the car is what I would consider very nice. It does have a couple minor nicks, chips, environmental, and maybe a scratch here and there to be expected of a 32 year old car but the Silver Blue paint is nice. The car does not have any rust anywhere that I can find, again it was never driven in the winter and kept in a garage. The Shadow Blue interior is not faded out like typical 80’s cars and the car was never smoked in (lighter and ash tray are in new condition) so the interior is also in very nice condition. The only thing that is noticeable is the roof of the car does seem to have the same luster as the rest of the car. I was told that the car was parked under a tree at one time and it got sap on the top of it that would not wash off. The original owner used alcohol or some alcohol based product to remove the sap and after that the luster was diminished on the roof.
So if you looking for a nice affordable classic to take to cruise nights or a great economical daily driver this car could be for you. I drive this car to local cruise nights and always have people looking over the car and telling me their memories of the old 80’s T-Birds. It’s time for this bird to fly the coupe, I have been selling off some of my classics because I just don’t have the time or room to maintain and store 10 cars anymore. I will also be selling my 1982 Ford LTD Fire Chief car and my 1966 Ford Mustang Coupe (California car) very soon.
This car is being sold in AS-IS condition and all transportation costs are the responsibility of the purchaser. The car is registered and insured and I do drive it once and awhile. I highly encourage anyone that is able to come and look the car over/drive it prior to purchasing if possible and if you have any questions feel free to contact me.
