1955 Ford F-100 Description

NO RESERVE!!!NO RESERVE!!!NO RESERVE!!!
Clear, notarized,Montana title provided with sale.
Slap your business name on the side of this "rolling billboard" and get noticed!! You need a tax write off this year, right?
It's a rare 1955 Ford Panel truck!I think (was told this back when I bought it) that it has a 312 cubic inch Ford Y block V8. If you are a Ford guy please have a look at the pictures and you can probably identify it. The engine runs very smooth and the internals are quiet. No smoke either! It has a 4 speed transmission on the floor.
it has a more modern Ford 8.8" rear end that was just overhauled with new ring/pinion, spiders, axle seals, bearing/races, etc.. It has 3:55 gears. The truck will come with the brackets need to mount rear shocks to the 8.8" rear end. The factory (8.8) provisions were removed to relocate the shocks to fit the original 1955 F-100 locations. They are not on the truck yet so there is no shocks in the rear but again, I will include the brackets so you can mount some shocks if you wish.
Brakes work fantastic. Has nice high pedal and stops straight. Clutch feels solid. Steering is what you would expect for original 1955 components (not bad but has a little play). The front wheel bearings/races were replaced and new seals installed in the hubs. Driveshaft has new u joints, but still needs to be balanced (has a vibration at speed). Passenger side rear leaf spring has a couple broken leafs.
The exhaust sounds great (think of the sound, a typical "old school" lead sled/hot rod makes). It's deep, with a nice burble without all the "cackle". It turns heads everywhere and it is a hit at the shows (especially with the kids)! Still needs some minor love. As mentioned earlier, the driveshaft (or wheels/tires) need balanced. Some wiring attention by the new owner would be a safe investment.
The headlights, tail lights, brake lights, horn and heater motor work fine. The wipers, turn signals and gaugesdo not. I have an extra dash that will come with it. It is supposed to function fine, however I have not tested it out, so I don't want to make a promise and be wrong. The reason I never swapped it is because it has a crack through the corner of the glass and I never needed a speedometer for just be-bopping around. It will pull hard through the gears with the new 3:55 ratio in the rear end though.
The body is nearly cancer free. We have dry weather here on the Montana plains and vehicles around this area age very well. We get surface rust from the sun baking the paint off but this is a very solid truck. The underside of the doors, fenders and rockers are all solid. I only know of a small spot of cancer on the passenger side floor board about the size of a quarter by the battery box (not a hole yet, but it is starting to flake). Also a couple spots in the passenger side running board which can be patched in (like was done on the drivers side).
One nice thing about starting with a "patina" vehicle like this one, is that you don't have to wonder what was hidden under the paint. We own a restoration and customizing business here and probably half of the vehicles that come in (that the customer thinks is "real nice"....) aren't so nice under the lipstick! Paint hides a lot.
We can build it for you too. Licensed and insured. Message me for details before bidding.
No surprises with this old truck. She wears her age with pride.
Over all, this is a VERY unusual rig and hard to find in this condition and at this price point! The value on these Ford panels when they are finished is skyrocketing! It's a great investment. Plus, it's a fun little truck that really doesn't need much time OR money thrown at it to daily drive it. It runs great, it drives pretty well (less the vibration) and it stops like it should.
