1988 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe Description

1988 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe. 2.3 liter 4 cylinder turbo charged and intercooled engine. Four speed automatic overdrive transmission. ABS brakes, power windows, locks, and seats. Solid and straight body with some dents and door dings as shown in the photos. No rust. The paint on the top of the car was faded (original primer was showing through) and has been sprayed with flat black epoxy primer while the bottom is still original paint. Lots of work done since we purchased it 6 years ago:
  • Cylinder head rebuilt at 100k miles with new timing belt kit
  • Late Model Restoration aluminum radiator and electric fan kit
  • K&N filter
  • New transmission mount and cooler fittings
  • New rear brakes
  • New alternator
  • Recent battery, fuel pump, spark plugs, and tie rod ends
  • 1 year old American Muscle 17 x 9 Cobra R wheels with 245/50/17 Sumitomo Tires
  • Magnaflow mufflers
  • Remote mounted TFI module
  • Sony stereo with USB input
Interior is complete and in good condition except for the top of the dash which is cracked from sun exposure. Original adjustable shocks have been replaced by the previous owner. Air Conditioning works but may need a recharge. The sunroof works great and has had a new seal installed. An air deflector for the sunroof allows you to drive at highway speeds with the sunroof open. Car will come with a replacement dash in good condition, the original air intake/filter housing, and a set of original 16 inch wheels for those that like the stock look.
The car runs great; it has a lot of power and idles smoothly. The turbo works well. The transmission shifts firmly in every gear and the car has been very reliable. Handles great and has a very smooth ride. This is a more upscale, comfortable, and usable car than the Fox Body Mustangs of that era.
We wish we could keep this one but we have too many cars and this one needs to find a good home. Please contact us with any questions.
Car is for sale locally so the auction could end at any time.
Thanks for looking.
