1949 Ford 2 door street legal Gasser
1949 Ford Custom tudor Description
I bought this car a couple years ago on eBay. I was provided many receipts from the builder which I still have and will provide to the buyer. This beast has a healthy 402 big block bored 30 over. The crank is stock dimensions yet. Some of the featuresSpeedway Motors straight front axle with Chevy spindles.Muncie 4 speed in good conditionFord 9 inch rear with a new limited slip differential with less than 250 miles on it.Hydraulic clutch4 link with coil over shocksDisc brakes all the way around.GPS speedometer that can show your speed in both digital and analog. Also can do your 0 to 60. Your 1/4 mile ET and speedLine LockCorvette master cylinder non boosted with proportioning valve.10 gallon fuel cell. This car has been garage kept year round. I probably have put less than 500 miles a year on it. A few of them at the local drag strip where it runs the mid 13s at a little over a ton. It would do better, but I can’t get it to hook up. Lights the tires in all of 1st and a good portion of 2nd.The front tires and wheels have less than 200 miles on them.
Also the car obviously has more than 2000 miles on it, but eBay forces you to enter a number. It has around 2000 since the current build.
Now for the negativeIt has a lot of play in the steering. It is all in the steering box as everything else is good and tight. There is a good possibility it could be adjusted as it is the stock Ford sector. One would have to remove the headers on that side to get to it.But it goes straight down the line, no drift to either directionAlso starting at around 60 mph it has a vibration in the drive line that I think is in the ring and pinion. Just a guess at this point.Which brings me to why I am selling it.I’ve recently had a couple surgeries that make it impossible for me to do much of anything on the car. A hot rod that you can’t work on isn’t much fun. I don’t have to sell the car for need of money, but I also don’t care to pay for some one else to work on it.The car is street legal ( in Nebraska anyway). I drive it a couple times a month and always get a a lot of attention. More than I want to be honest. Most of it is positive. This thing is definitely old school. Has a nasty lope to it idling around in 1st gear.It is not high compression and will run well on any type of gas. It would be a good candidate for a blower. It has a heater that is good for about 30 degrees outside. No radio. Drivers seat has a rip in it. And there is a little damage to the right rear quarter as seen in the one photo.I’ve described this as honestly and completely as I can, but don’t hesitate to ask questions.Payment in full before car is shipped. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer.
