1965 Ford Mustang Description

This Mustang was used on the Ford Motor Company's Magic Skyway at the New York World’s Fair during the 1965 season. Ford Motor Company used the Magic Skyway as a way to showcase its complete line of Ford products. This car comes complete with a valid Michigan title and internal Ford correspondence documenting its unique provenance.

The New York World's Fair ran for two summer seasons during 1964 and 1965. This car was used during the 1965 season. In 1965 there were 3 black, 3 white, 3 red and 2 blue Mustangs used. When the Fair ended in October of 1965 this car was sent back to Carron and Company in Inkster, MI to be cleaned up. It was then sent to the Ford resale, "B" lot in Dearborn where it was eventually sold to a Ford employee who worked at the Research and Engineering Center. He drove this car to work for many years before finally retiring it 1979. It has sat inside since then.Unfortunately, the harsh Michigan winters have taken its toll on the car; it will need a COMPLETE restoration due to extensive rust.

Magic Skyway ride cars are extremely rare. There were 23 Mustangs used on the Magic Skyway over the two seasons.Currently, only five of these Mustangs are known to exist; this car is one of those five.
