1932 Ford Other Pickups Description

1932 Ford Pickup

For 1932, Ford introduced an improved version of the Model A four-cylinder to accompany the new V-8 in its cars and trucks. This 200.5-cu.in., 50-hp engine was known, appropriately enough, as the Model B.
The Model B shared many elements with its Model A predecessor, and the two had a great deal of physical interchangeabilityattested by the fact that today, many updated Model A's incorporate some or all of a Model B engine for improved drivability.

This steel rodded version of the 1932 Model B is out there in its purest hot rodded sense. With front fenders removed and side hood cowls absent, plain red steel wheels and a 350ci crate engine, we can definitely get a little pick me up from this pickup!

Exterior
With its top chopped 3 inches, and transverse leaf springs, front spindles are on a dropped axle, no front fenders, side hood cowls or running boards, we have the hot rod version of a pickup truck. Bathed in light and dark blue, this all steel rodder has a bed cover and a dark blue vinyl textured top. LED rear taillights, decent chrome and fairly straight panels this older build holds up well. Plain red painted steel wheels are all around. 3 inch chromed tailpipe tips are noted looking out from under the bumper.

Interior
With some custom cedar woodwork on the dash, some alligatoring of the varnish can be seen, but beautiful cedar with imbedded white faced and gold bezeled Classic instruments in the center. Hanging above at the front of the headliner, is another custom cedar shelf/box built in with the CB radio, and a JVC AM/FM/Cassette stereo. A storage box doubles as the seat pad holder and seat back holder. Continuing to the bed we note another wood box stretching across the back of the cab, in the bed. Also carpeting covers the bed and is kept fresh by the vinyl tonneau snap cover.

Drivetrain
350 cubes of crate engine is shoehorned into the engine bay. The block stampings indicate it is a 1969-1979 350ci V8. There is a Rochester Quadra-jet 4-barrel carburetor atop and it feeds the engine through a Holley intake. A TH350 3-speed automatic is bolted to the rear of the 350ci mill. There is an Oldsmobile rear end and headers with a turbo muffler system attached.

Undercarriage
Nicely restored with no rust, no errors or structural inefficiencies. Nice black paint even on the frame exists. On the lower door panels inside some surface and slight invasive rust is noted on both doors. 4-wheel disc brakes are now attached, and ride is secured by transverse leaf springs upfront and leaf springs on the rear. Very clean and well-maintained underneath.

Drive-Ability
Started quickly and drove just like a 1932 Pickup! Cushioned seats in foam with cloth covering sitting on wood leaves a lot to be desired. The truck rode fairly smoothly and has plenty of power to cruise down the highway, or any back road.

A diamond in the rough, an earlier build which used materials that could be replaced with many current day sexier options, or just left to its devices. Either way the truck runs great and is a blank canvas as to curb appeal, leaving you to dream on! She's my little deuce truck, you don't know what she's got!
