This 1956 Thunderbird has the original 312 engine and three speed manual transmission plus overdrive it came with from the factory. The 312 adds 20 percent to the blue book value, and you can see why as it provides a very spirited ride. It runs and drives excellent. I recently took it on a 90 mile cruise to a car show, and it performed flawlessly on the highway. I bought the car from someone who bought it from the original owners son, who insisted the 71K miles are original. I always doubt such claims, but one simple way to tell is the numbers are still lined up perfectly on the odometer. Usually they are not perfect after turning over, but they are pretty straight across on this one. I was taking my time fixing every little thing on it, but I just bought another classic car, and I don’t have room for both, so I will list all of the cars upgrades and mention what it could still use to be perfect.
lOptional 312 V8 with new Edelbrock AVS 500 cfm carb and electronic ignition upgrade Always starts and runs smoothly even when cold. Original Holley carb will come with the car
lOriginal three speed transmission w/ overdrive work perfectly and has a brand new 11” clutch, pressure plate, and throw out bearing
lNew power steering rack and pump steers easily, but you can feel a little catch from the original box once in awhile, not very noticeable in normal driving
lFront Brakes upgraded to Disc along with new front and rear anti-sway bars Emergency brake works like it should. Car stops quickly and much faster than stock
lDual exhaust sounds great and exits thru the rear bumpers
lPaint is the original Colonial white, and is the only respray the car has ever received. It shows very nicely with just a few minor chips and no bubbling
lSince the new paint, door weatherstripping has not been installed. Trunk is installed and is good
l16” American Racing Torque Thrust wheels in chrome with matching Mastercraft 225 60 16 tires including the spare
lCar comes with freshly painted original fender skirts if you want the stock look
lFront bumper is from a 1957 Bird, which I prefer, but it could be put back to the 56 if desired. It could use a re-chrome
lSpeedometer, fuel gauge, heater, wipers turn signals, lights all work I bought a new antenna, but it needs to be installed, then the radio may work as well. Clock and stop lights don’t work. Trunk opens fine, but needs a new lock cylinder
lDoor glass goes up and down, wings work, windshield is usable, but has a round circle someone put in as a repair. It appears to be the original one so does have some pitting as well
lGt Grant real Mahogany wood steering wheel has a functioning center horn button, but it needs a new horn as you can hear the relay when pushing it. Original steering wheel goes with the car.
lNew upholstery and door handles Power seat switch is hooked up, but temperamental; it is set all the way back and down, which is where virtually everyone would want it anyway
lNew Convertible Top with new Bows No Hardtop back plastic is clear except for some cloudiness caused by not having a towel in between the folds. It could no doubt be polished out
lBlue book low is 46K Average is 72k and high is 102k so considering the very low reserve, this will be a great investment, and well worth fixing these minor issues
This is an excellent running and driving car. It really gets the attention everywhere it is driven. As with all used vehicles it will be sold “as-is”, so please ask any questions ahead of time, and please only bid if you have cash in hand. If you need to get a loan or want it professionally inspected, this must be done Before the Auction ends. I will need a 500 dollar deposit at the close of the auction by way of PayPal, with the balance due in the form of Cash, Cashiers Check or Bank Transfer within 5 Business Days. All checks will need to clear my bank before the car can be released. It will come with a Clear UtahState Title in my Name.
Thanks, TJ
