1964 Ford Falcon Sprint Description

Everyone knows Mustangs are really Falcons underneath, right? So while Mustang values skyrocket, you can get pretty much the same driving experience in this 1964 Ford Falcon Sprint convertible for a fraction of the price. Complete with a 260 cubic inch V8 and a dialed-in restoration, it's also somewhat rare in its own right and is sure to catch other cars asleep at the wheel.

Falcons have been overlooked for so many years that it's quite rare to find one as well finished as this one. After decades of living in the Mustang's shadow, enthusiasts are discovering that the Falcon has a lot to offer, including trim proportions, timeless styling, and easy parts availability. The eyeball-watering red paint job has been done in what might pass for a slightly darker Rangoon Red, but it's so vivid that it'll stand out like a beacon amongst all the Wimbledon White Falcons you're likely to see. The ornate hood and dramatic jet-inspired taillights are styling cues borrowed from its big brother the Galaxie, and the big, dominating front grille is the last vestige of the '50s visible anywhere on the car. Paint quality is great throughout, just the way you'd want it on a cruiser built to drive, and it shows quite well with a bright shine and good panel alignment. Restored chrome and polished stainless indicates that someone cared about making this car look right, and all the factory emblems are in place. Take a look at the profile of this car, with the black vinyl top dropped down and the swooping side trim glistening in the sun, and tell me you'd rather have a Mustang. Not an easy decision, is it?

This car also sports an ultra-clean red-and-black vinyl interior, complete with newer two-tone seat covers, plush carpets, and nicely finished door panels to match. The factory instruments cover the basics, along with an aftermarket tach mounted up high on the dash and a trio of auxiliary units right below. The dash is nicely finished and we love the three-spoke wheel, which gives the Falcon an upscale feel. A factory-style radio still lives in the dash, but a newer Kenwood AM/FM/CD stereo has been neatly installed in the glove box and feeds speakers hidden throughout the interior, so the original looks aren't spoiled. A newer black power convertible top was recently installed and fits beautifully, stowing itself under a matching black boot. The Falcon also gets a good-sized trunk finished neatly with a plaid mat and carrying a full-size spare, so it's ready to hit the road.
Underhood, the goal was clearly to create a super-sanitary engine bay that features the 260 cubic inch V8 like artwork. Beautifully finished red inner fenders and firewall are the perfect backdrop for the small block engine. It is further augmented with bright chrome valve covers and a matching open-element air cleaner with correct reproduction decals on top. Wiring and plumbing are neatly done in the factory style, and this Falcon was likely upgraded to the alternator you see today, as most of these cars were still on generators until late '64/early '65. The engine runs superbly, quick to start and idling with a wonderful V8 burble from the Flowmaster dual exhaust system. Underneath, it's quite solid and nicely detailed, further evidence of an easy life spent under careful ownership. A C4 3-speed automatic transmission feeds an 8-inch rear end with reasonable gears inside and those 205/60/15 BFGoodrich white-letter radials on Magnum 500 wheels complete the look.
This Falcon has a great look that's far nicer than you'd expect. Falcons are red hot right now and cars like this cool Sprint never hang around for long, so call today!
