1932 Ford Roadster Description

1932 Ford Roadster Fiberglass Body, Steel Fenders/Quarters 283ci V8 / Turbo Hydramatic Orange on Dark Brown Vinyl Rumble Seat 20,985 Miles Since Build VIDEO WITH LISTING VIN: 18031932 Engine: 283ci V8, Dated 1957, #3737739 Transmission: TH350 Automatic, #GM68-6155 Four Wheel Disc Brakes, Independent Rear Suspension, C3 Corvette Differential We purchased this beautiful ‘32 Ford from a gentleman in Michigan who had owned the car since 2009. While we do not have a build receipt or photo-log of the restoration, this car was certainly finished to a high standard. The body is fiberglass, the fenders, quarters, and hood are all steel, and the orange paint and graphite grey pinstriping look awfully good. Since purchasing the car in late 2019 we’ve detailed it, topped up the fluids, and begun to add miles. It’s a shame this car came our way over the winter, as it’s not quite the same having to be bundled up to enjoy it. We’d love to spend a few summer weekends stretching its legs up and down Lake Shore Drive. As it sits now this is a very clean, nice-to-drive ‘32 roadster that has been restored and modified for usability’s sake, and could be purchased and enjoyed straightaway. The Exterior: Please see the video along with the listing, as the car is shown in detail. Light orange paint looks great; no orange peel, dust nibs, etc. There’s one small spot of visible paint run, though you’d really have to look for it. It’s below the doors on the passenger’s side, just above the step panel. Blemishes are limited to some minor chipping around the buttons for the soft top, as well as the tiniest little bit of pitting on the front wheels. Beige canvas soft top will come with the car and is in good shape except for some water stains. Polished surfaces are in excellent shape throughout. No oxidation on the trim pieces, headlight surrounds, bumpers, etc. Weatherstripping is nice and fresh throughout, not dry or cracked. 225/70 Goodyears out back, 205/60 Firestones up front, both pairs in good condition. Glass and light lenses are all clear and crack-free. Doors open and close nice and smoothly, and panel fitment is spot-on throughout. The Interior: As to be expected, the interior is pretty bare bones. Creature comforts aren’t really why folks like these cars. Gauges are all functional (speedometer, temperature, oil pressure, amps, fuel), as is the odometer. Odometer reading of 20,985 is believed to be the mileage since restoration, which was presumably about twenty years ago; actual chassis mileage is unknown. Lights are all functional. Steering wheel does have tilt adjust. Switches on top of the steering column power the windshield wiper and headlights. Dark brown vinyl interior is in great shape, with very little for signs of age. One small scuff on the driver’s seat bottom, but extremely minor. Passenger’s seat and rumble seat are excellent. Door panels are in great shape, no damage or kicked-open markings. Carpeting is in fine shape and fits well, but the brown color has faded a bit greenish and looks sort of odd. Cobra CB radio is functional. No air conditioning, no fan. Under the Hood / Under the Car: Please take a look at the underbody photos, as the car is documented in detail. Car looks great underneath. Very clean. No through rust or evidence of active leaks. GM disc brakes at all four corners, C2/C3 Corvette rear end, dual exhaust, Red Ryder shocks. The car runs and drives nicely. It fires right up, idles cool and steady, pulls hard through the gears, shifts smoothly, and brakes straight and effectively. Car is really a blast to drive. Power steering and four wheel disc brakes elevate this car from a cool little hot rod to a proper driver that you can actually use and enjoy. With a 283ci V8 under the hood and not a whole lot of mass to move around, this roadster really does move as well as it looks.
