1956 Ford Other Pickups Mercury Description

1956 Mercury M250 Pickup Truck. Very solid truck with beautiful patina and original paint. The original Y Block V8 turns freely on this Barn Find truck.Selling withNo Reserveto the highest bidder. Contact must be made within 24 hours of the auction ending or it will be assumed that you have no intention of honoring your bid and the truck will be offered to others. Zero Feedback bidders must make contact prior to bidding.
This truck has an all original body with minimal rust. The paint is original. The floorboards are very good with no rust through. The cab corners are excellent with only slight rusting beginning on the drivers side. The drivers side front fender has a small rust hole above the headlight. And there is a little rust in the usual area of the lower cowl very typical of 53-56 Ford trucks. The roof is not rusted above the windshield which isn't often the case with these 56 trucks. There is a PTO driven hoist fitted below the bed making the bed a dump bed as is often the case with this era prairie farm truck. This is why the bed sits higher than factory, this can be removed and the bed re-installed at factory height, the choice is yours once you get it home. Unfortunately this means that the original tailgate was typically discarded and is now missing but we have sourced a 1956 Ford F250 tailgate in excellent condition and a similar color. We also have a smaller 1956 Mercury M100 tailgate which we can offer the winning bidder for additional cost if they should want it to combine with the larger Ford F250 tailgate to create a correct Mercury M250 tailgate for this truck. Overall avery good looking and solid truck with beautiful patina and hints of some original sign writing still showing on the doors.
The interior is complete and in very good condition for its age. I would expect the new owner will want to recover the seat but otherwise it needs very little.
Mechanically this truck is complete. The original Y Block V8 engine does turn over freely. The tires all hold air and it rolls. Overall this truck is a step above the majority of original condition Barn Finds of this era by it having a complete and free turning engine that should need very little to get running and driving.
1956 Mercury trucks are very rare, when did you last see one for sale? This is the first 1956 Mercury truck we have ever offered because even though we actively source these trucks we have never found a 1956 Mercury in condition worthy of bringing to market. Ford produced 157,804 trucks (including panels and cab & chassis) in 1956 in the US, they produced 16,847 Ford's in Canada and only 6,959 Mercury's in Canada that year. So less than 4% of 1956 FoMoCo trucks produced were Mercury's and having only been sold in harsh northern climates very few 1956 Mercury's survive today. To find a 1956 Mercury with a pickup bed and factory V8 option in such nice condition is quite an exciting find.
This will make an easy low budget project being that it is complete with a free turning engine and has a very good body with original paint.Selling withNo Reserveto the highest bidder.

who we are and what we do

We are two brothers who seek out original trucks and cars from all across Canada, specializing in vehicles from the 40s, 50s and 60s.

Most American barn finds have long since been found and tampered with by multiple owners; North of the border there still seems to be an abundance of good, solid, original vehicles, waiting to be brought back to life.

We make thesevehicles available to the US market by taking care of importation and providing all paperwork required to obtain a ClearUS Title, in your name and home State.

We are passionate about finding the best there is and understand that our customers wantto see automobiles that have not been tampered with; The more original, the better.

Our inventory is regularly updated, as new finds are unearthed. If there is something specific that you are looking for, then let us know and we'd be happy to see if we can help.

The business we conduct is straightforward and honest. Whether you're looking for something that'sall original, a starting point for a restoration project or the bones for a custom build, Bison Brothers are here to help.
