1966 Ford Mustang Description

1966 Ford Mustang coupe, originally a 6 cylinder manual car. I was building a Trans Am style race car, hoping to have done by now, but have too many other projects piling up to finish it. The car has a pretty solid foundation to build, had new floors installed when I got it. I had another 66 coupe that we did a complete restomod on, so all the V8 drivetrain was saved for this one. It got the 8" rear axle that was gone through, V8 driveshaft with new u-joints, rebuilt C4 transmission with the correct crossmember for the parking brake, T-handle shifter and linkage (all already installed in the car), and the 289 V8 engine. The engine has been rebuilt, probably has less than 2,000 miles on it, and runs smooth. It has a new fuel pump, Edelbrock intake, chrome valve covers and air cleaner, new Autolite plugs, wires, cap and rotor, new water pump, and a new Powermaster alternator (still in the box). It has a Holley 4bbl carb- may need gone through as was sitting on the shelf for awhile. The front suspension has been swapped to the correct V8 components and new shocks front and rear installed. All new brakes, wheel cylinders, new steel brake lines, all new rubber brake hoses, and new '67 dual master cylinder installed. The manual pedal setup was swapped out for the correct automatic brake pedal. New steel fuel line from rear to front. New BFG white letter tires on 1972 Mustang Ralley wheels. Complete dual exhaust system with 2 1/4" pipes. New radiator, new upper and lower rad hoses, new coolant lines to the heater box. I used 1972 Mustang front bucket seats with the high backs- still have the original '66 seats and will trade out if preferred. New Speedway 22 circuit fuse block and wiring harness has been installed- block and headlight circuits are in, leads are run to new ignition switch, radio, and cluster but need to be connected yet. Taillight lead has also been run, but still needs connected. The original removed wiring harness is included in case any pigtails are needed, along with several other parts as seen in the pics. I replaced the door hinges on the driver's door, as well as the regulator that was stuck. All other glass is in good usable shape, windows roll up and down freely.I was going for a 'barn fresh' trans am style race car with this project and planned on painting the hood and fender tops a flat black, as well as faded numbers on the doors. It basically has all new drivetrain, brakes, suspension, and steering, with a worn out patina on the outside. It's to the point where it needs very little to be a running car, so a great project start! I'd finish it myself, but have to make room for other projects coming back from paint this month.
