1923 Ford Model T Roadster Hot Rod/Rat RodThis a 1923 T bucket Hot Rod or you may call it a Rat Rod. It is titled as a 1923 Ford T.
This is an extremely well built, unique version of a T bucket that is fast, drive able, easy to drive, fun to drive and every show I have been to, I have taken home an award.
This is unique in that it has an inline 6 cylinder engine instead of a big V8. This makes it easy to drive, comfortable to drive, makes it unique and is very fast while still being easy to handle and great on gas.
Please read through the details as it is all new or newly rebuilt and is put together very well with a lot of great components. There is nothing needed to go down the road cruisin’ or to your favorite show. I always drove it to shows and to the ice cream shop.
Less than 500 miles on everything.
Engine – Chevy 230 inline 6 cylinder. Completely rebuilt with all new accessories. This has an Offenhauser extremely unique intake with 3 Rochester carbs on it with chrome air cleaners. The engine is all painted and everything on it is new from the starter, alternator, ignition parts, hoses, belts, etc. Runs great, idles perfectly and yes will chirp the tires when you hit second gear. Custom built headers leading to the side exhaust. They are Jet Hot Coated.
Transmission – New Turbo 350 automatic with a B&M shifter with an 8 Ball shift knob. The shifter was milled down so the height is better in the car.
Body is standard 23 T size fiberglass with a wood floor. The wood has been treated with urethane to protect it.
Steering and suspension – Cadillac steering column with a Grant steering wheel. New Vega steering box. Front shocks are Bilstein chrome shocks. Rear shocks are chrome coil over adjustable. Wishbones front and back. Front leaf spring is from a jeep. New kingpins on the I beam dropped axle. Rides great, steers smoothly and perfectly.
The frame is solid 2 x 3 boxed steel tubing the dimensions of a 23 T. Painted flat black. Every weld has been gone through to ensure integrity.
Brakes – Wilwood disc brakes up front and drum brakes in the rear. Master cylinder under the floor with an access panel in the floor. All stainless brake lines. The car will stop on a dime.
Fuel tank is an aluminum 7 gallon tank from speedway motors.
Tires – Coker American Classic white walls. Front – 165R15, Rear – 225/75/15. Nice size difference without being too much. Wheels – 15 inch 5 lug Ansen slot wheels.
Lighting – Front headlights are Dietz style chrome headlights and rear are ’59 Cadillac lights. All lights work and the lights in the gauges work. All wiring is great.
Gas pedal is a chrome spoon pedal and the brake pedal is a model T pedal.
Windshield is a model T style with an electric wiper for effect.
Pin striping on headlights and grill shell.
Grill shell is a Model A chrome shell with a model A stone guard on the inside.
Radiator and electric fan keep this cool which is easy as it is open. The fan runs off a switch on the dash.
Gauges are Dolphin units that all work to include speedo, tach, charging and oil pressure. Currently the fuel gage is not connected. I just look in the tank before I go somewhere. The horns work and are activated by a button on the dash.
Interior – carpet on floor and side panels. The seat is a high grade vinyl done extremely well by my expert upholsterer. It is formed for comfort and even has some lower back lumbar support. I have a mesh cover for the cockpit area to put on a little before you leave the show so it cools the seat down for the ride home.
This is a great ride that gets a lot of attention as it is not the norm of a T bucket – in a good way. Everything is new or redone and it really has great integrity and most importantly, extremely good drivability. This car is smooth and plenty fast while being easy to handle. It has great unique components on it and will drive forever. It has never been stored outside and never been driven in the rain. You could leave it like it is or paint the frame and body to make it your own. It needs nothing else. It actually doesn’t need anything now to go down the road and enjoy it.

Only selling it as I have another roadster in the finishing stages and am willing to pass this along – although I will be sad to see it go.
