Classic original Ford lots of money spent on engine rebuild and other areas
1964 Ford Fairlane 500 Description
This is an interesting classic with an irresistible tale. It's a 1964 Ford Fairlane 500 with only 21,200 miles on the odometer, and it was tucked away in storage for decades. Now it's back with thousands $$$$ invested in making it look great without taking away from all the vintage attitude that makes this one so cool.
The story we were told on this one is that Ms. Jones worked for Ford in Indianapolis, and so she was able to go to the factory and drive her new Skylight Blue Fairlane 500 right off the assembly line. She wasn't much of a long-haul driver, and so there was only about 21,200 on the odometer before the car went into to storage for 20 years. We'd love to tell you that all they did was wash this barn find to get it as nice as you see it now, but it really takes a solid investment to get it looking so good today. They invested in 2018 for a respray and have some of the chrome brightened up. It really lets you see some of the striking details on this one, like the full-length sweeping side trim, afterburner-style taillights, and the dog dish factory wheel covers. The result is a car that looks quite stock, and likely the kind of careful condition that it had when Ms. Jones put it into storage.
The interior holds up to time better, and so this is believed to be all original. That's a good thing, because the multi-tone blue has an awesome distinction. Just take a look at the artful way the triple-blue side panels are artfully crafted. Even the factory steering wheel retains a deep blue and the Ford family crest in the center. And the seats have a well-coordinated colorful cloth insert. There is a little wear in the driver's seat. It can be repaired, but really, it's the perfect catalyst to tell the tale of Ms. Jones. After all, this Fairlane is still just the way she ordered it over 55 years ago!
Under the hood is a vibrant red air topper and cover radiating from within the dark engine bay. This all looks distinctive, and it should, considering we have receipts for over $10k invested in the last couple of year to return this to cruiser status. It starts with the motor. The 200 cubic-inch inline-six is believed to be the original one for the car, and so it was given a professional rebuild less than 200 miles ago. The automatic transmission is also believed original, and it was recently rebuilt. There are new brakes, a new gas tank, and new suspension components as all part of the big spend on this Ford. So they made the right investments to get a car that fires up easily, runs smoothly, and feels confident on the road.
The sale come with important paperwork, like the original dealer invoice, warranty card, owner's manual, and receipts documenting this special car's resurrection. Cars with such interesting stories and big investments don't come around very often. So don't miss your opportunity at a truly exceptional Fairlane 500. Call today!!!
