I first saw this Galaxie last April while dropping off a car at my mechanics shop for some work. He had the car in one of his bays and had recently completed the work listed above for his customer… he was waiting on final payment for the work done. To be honest, I have been trying to buy the car since that time… it finally happened.

Following is the story on the old car. It was bought new locally in September of 1964 and was owned by the same man until 1973 when he lost the car in a poker game to the second owner. (supposedly he lost to a full house… Jacks-full) The car only had about 38,000 miles at that time. The second owner had the car for 38 years… until 2011 when the third owner acquired the car in payment for some home repairs that he did for the second owner. The car had approximately 57,000 miles on the odometer but was most likely 157,000. I bought the car from the third owner. Of the 4 owners including me… the only time money changed hands on the car was when new and when I bought it. The car has always been a local car inmy neighboring town of Washington, Ga.

Condition of the car… the first thing I did when I got the car back to my shop was remove the original old nasty carpet from the car revealing a solid floor with the original factory Vintage Burgundy paint. Next, I removed the dilapidated falling original headliner.

The underside is dry and solid. The original body bushings on the car are shown in the pictures and are in very good condition. It has a recently new exhaust system. The body panels are original and the doors close solid, the door hinges are not worn and have any no play in them. The glass is good, and the windows roll up and down fine, but the seals are old and dry. I have replaced the trunk seal. The only rust in the car is a small area at the bottom of both rear quarters in the normal place. This is in the outer fenders only… the inner fenders are good. This would be an easy fix if someone wanted to restore the body and paint. The rockers are solid. There is also some rust in the back side of the inside of the trunk along the area over the bumper.

The wheels are the factory Kelsey Hayes steel wheels 14” (not special service), with new P215/70R14 radials all the way around. I painted the wheels and put dog dish caps that I had in my shop on because I like the look. I also have all four factory born hubcaps as well. It has a spare and the factory jack and accessories.

The interior has the original black bench seat, door panels and dash with a non-working AM factory radio and clock. The seats are pretty good shape with no tears or rips, and the door panels aren’t to bad. All the lights and gauges work, the car has been made road ready. The speedometer bounces a little around 60ish… possibly could lube the cable (this sometimes works), I haven’t done that yet.

The car runs, drives and handles great. I wouldn’t hesitate to drive the car anywhere and it’s really a pleasure to drive. I’m enjoying this old car as well as any I’ve had! This would be a great car to restore or just drive and enjoy like it is.

It’s rare to find an ALL Matching # P-Code 64 fastback like this one and I have looked at every number on the car myself so if you have any questions give me a call. 706-831-1899.

I can pick you up at the Augusta GA airport or the Thomson GA (small aircraft) …on almost any day except Sunday
