With the popularity of resto-modded cars increasing, why not have a resto-modded truck? That's exactly what you're looking at here. A resto mod truck with tough looks and an interesting history, including a LMC Truck catalog cover and feature article.
This truck was originally a '68 Ford F100, just your average everyday truck. Trips to the store, hauling loads in the bed, and maybe even towing was part of the regular use of this and many other vintage Ford F100 pickups. Aaron Kaufman of Gas Monkey Garage, thanks to his mainstream popularity seems to have given a big boost to popularity of the modern drivetrain swap into the F100's. You guessed it, this is one such truck, which has been a recipient of a modern drivetrain. No, you don't have to have an impressive beard to get behind the wheel and enjoy it.
Under the hood is a 4.6 Liter V8 pulled from a Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor, including the complete subframe. Thanks to the modern subframe, this truck drives, and handles much better than the original factory setup did. KYB shocks, custom widened Interceptor wheels, and line lock for massive burnouts are highlights of the drivetrain. A binder of maintenance records for the car that the Interceptor engine and subframe were pulled from also comes with the truck.
As you can see in the photos, this truck is not a show finished resto-mod truck, it has the old patina look, which can be fun at stop lights since many people don't suspect that this truck is fast. The original paint is Wimbledon White (code M) according to the Trim Tag, although now it includes some brown and gray tones thanks to age. A new windshield and window seals have been added all around, and new LED headlights were installed on the front end, which are a big improvement over the stock headlights.
The interior has been left pretty simple, function over form is the name of the game here. Crown Victoria gauge cluster has been integrated with the factory F100 gauge panel, seats have simple covers, and black lap belts help keep you in place when giving that 'Foot' gas pedal a good stomp!
