For sale 1965 Mustang Coupe 289 4 Speed Top Loader red exterior black interior. No power brakes no power steering. Originally a C-Code car it came from the factory with a 289 2-barrel and an automatic. Also originally a California car. (Manufactured at San Jose Plant) Currently, the engine is upgraded with some basic performance add ons and the transmission is a 4 Speed manual. The car has been used intermittently as a daily driver for the past couple years and works great.
Body/Paint:
The car is painted Chevrolet Victory Red with GT trim(Gt Emblems and Hi-PO K code badges). The body and paint aren't perfect but are in good shape. It is by no means a show car but looks great for a daily driver. There is a larger blemish to the paint on the trunk lid which I have attached a picture of. There are also some minor imperfections in the paint below the gas filler cap. But overall the paint looks good. There is a some rust on the rear of the drivers side frame rail but nothing that inhibits drivability or structural integrity. The previous owner repaired some rust in the floorpans by cutting out the rusted areas and welding new floorpans on top. The work is not the prettiest but the floorpans are solid.
Interior:
The car has a black interior. The two front seats are upgraded from original in that they give you the ability to recline and have headrests. Dash is original, uncut, and in great shape. Also has a nice black center console installed. In addition to this the car has shoulder belts installed for both the driver’s seat and the passenger’s seat. I can include an uninstalled shoulder belt kit for the back bench seat if you are interested. All windows work.
Electronics:
Headlights, fog lights, tail lights, backup lights, interior dome light, speaker system, heater, and turn signals all work great. Windshield wipers work well but the knob is a bit finicky and hard to use so it could use replacing in the near future. The car has aftermarket oil pressure and temperature gauges installed below the dash for more accurate readouts. The tachometer on the steering column works perfectly. The speedometer works but jumps around at lower speeds and needs to be adjusted for accuracy. The gas gauge currently does not work but it is an easy and cheap fix.(Needs a small electronic part to work again). Sending unit and gauge itself are fine.
Drivetrain:
Engine and transmission are both solid. Clutch and flywheel replaced professionally 3,000-4,000 miles ago and work perfectly with a lot of life left. The oil pan and shifter were also replaced 3-4,000 miles ago. Clutch pedal and gas pedal assembly also replaced along with the clutch. The car also has 4 wheel disk brakes. Flaws:
Mentioned most of these in the description but wanted to summarize everything for the sake of transparency. The paint is good but has a blemish on the trunk lid and below the gas cap. There are also a few small nicks and scratches. The body is ok. The body panel fit is excellent and the car is very straight. However, there is some rust towards the back of the drivers side rear frame rail. The previous owner repaired some rust in the floorpans and you can see where he cut out the old floorpans and welded the new ones on. Interior is very good but has a few scratches/blemishes. Speedometer is inaccurate but functional and the gas gauge needs a small repair to work again. Windshield wiper knob is tough to operate. Car is in great condition for a daily driver and loads of fun to drive. Not sure of the exact original mileage as the odometer stopped working a few hundred miles ago but it currently reads 20,000. I can send pictures of all imperfections upon request.
The car comes with a folder of receipts and documentation for repairs and modifications done by myself and the previous owner. In addition to this I have a number of spare parts such as the original seats which are reupholstered and in great shape that I can sell with the car if you are interested. Selling because I am a college student and do not have the time to give this car the care and attention it needs anymore. Im happy to answer any questions you might have as well as provide any additional information including all documentation. Feel free to contact me at the email written below. I will get back to you as soon as possible. I have a video linked below this description. More video is available if you are interested. I can also email a bunch of extra photos as ebay will not let me link them in this description.
